SPECIAL DELIVERY – Handwritten letter for you!

*Download my handwritten letter here*

http://www.AttractionMarketersManifesto.com/handwrittenletter.pdf

First of all, I want to wish you and your family a Happy Father’s Day!

I hope you take some well-deserved time off to spend the day with your loved ones and recharge those batteries.

(This is important and I don’t think we get around to doing this enough!)

Secondly, for the past couple weeks I’ve had an uncontrollable urge to
sit down at my kitchen table…

Tear out a few pieces of classic sized 8.5 x 11 mead notebook paper…

Whip out an actual ballpoint pen…

AND HANDWRITE YOU
A HEARTFELT LETTER!

Telling you about an interesting (and kind of personal) way I deal with discouragement and failure on a day-to-day basis.

Yeah, I’m talking a good old-fashioned letter you cram into an envelope and throw a stamp on before sticking it into the mailbox.

Believe it or not, I was seriously considering pulling off this spontaneous little stunt…

UNTIL I REALIZED HOW
MUCH IT WOULD COST

To send a physical letter to every single entrepreneur on my newsletter lists.

200,000 stamps x 0.44 cents = $88,000.00!

Yikes!

(And that wasn’t even including envelopes, copies, and all the time it would have taken!)

I had almost hopelessly abandoned this idea of mine when suddenly it hit me.

Why not handwrite my message, scan each individual piece of notebook paper…

AND CONVERT THE ENTIRE LETTER INTO
A PDF EVERYONE CAN DOWNLOAD AND READ!

(Just like all of my special reports.)

So guess what?

That’s exactly what I did.

Last week I sat down and scribbled out an uplifting 8-page handwritten letter…

JUST FOR YOU! :-)

And it’s ready for you right here.

http://www.AttractionMarketersManifesto.com/handwrittenletter.pdf

In a day where cell phones, palm pilots, blackberries, instant and text messaging, (and yes even “tweeting”) reign supreme…

I WANTED TO TURN BACK
THE CLOCK A DECADE OR TWO

And return to this outdated (and sorely underused) method of communication.

Call me an “old-schooler” if you want but I miss getting heartwarming snail mail.

Plus, it’s Father’s Day and I want YOU to know you’re an appreciated member of our tightly-knit “Renegade family.”

Anyways, download my letter before I start getting all mushy on you.

http://www.AttractionMarketersManifesto.com/handwrittenletter.pdf

I think you’ll like the story I tell.

To Your Success,
Ann Sieg

Ann Sieg

P.S. I was inspired to write you this letter while reading one of my favorite
self-development books of all time.

(I reveal the title in my letter which you can download here.)

http://www.AttractionMarketersManifesto.com/handwrittenletter.pdf

Now I want to find out what business mindset book tops YOUR list.

So will you do me a favor?

After you finish reading my letter take one minute to leave a short comment on below (on this blog post) that reveals your favorite.

My goal is to compile a massive list of top-notch books and resources you can constantly reference.

You know, something you can come back to in a couple months when you need something new to study or read.

If everyone does this we’ll create an unbelievable asset within our community that we’ll ALL be able to benefit from.

Sound like a plan?

Well, I’d like to make it even better.

So how about this…

Post a comment on my blog with your favorite self-development book of all time and use your primary email address (you know, the one you actually check regularly) and every single person who makes a post will receive a free special bonus from me later this week.

This will be a surprise bonus so I can’t tell you what it is right now, but I can tell you it is valuable!

It is something that some of my very best customers are paying money for right now.

I estimate the hard dollar value of this surprise bonus to be at least $60. Minimum.

So be sure to use a working email address (don’t leave it in your comment itself, just fill in the form field when you leave a comment) and I’ll collect all the email addresses and let you know later this week where and how to collect your bonus!

Sound good?

I’m anxiously waiting for your answer. :-)

P.P.S. Are you interested in chatting with me “LIVE” on Twitter tonight?

If so, go here for all the details.

  1. Hello Ann,

What a relief to see a handwritten pdf.

Sounded good and it was – Great read, Short and to the point – very different indeed.

Thank you for reminding us of that fact – Failures are never really failures – just necessary steps to find out whats working!

I think I need to get reading that book again.

    Its always inspiring.

Thanks Ann and have a great day !

    Hamant

  2. Great story, Ann. I too believe Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” is the classic inspirational book ever.

  3. Jo Beaufort says:

Ann, This letter is very timely for me. For some unknown reason in the last couple of weeks the penny has finally dropped for me and I have moved into “consistent action” and I am slowly but surely moving forward. I believe prior to this I was overwhelmed and trying to learn too much from too many sources and was suffering from “paralysis”.
I am going through the 90 day action plan and finding it all simple and have taken on the motto Work Smarter not Harder and it’s working.
One of my favourite authors is Paul Hanna and the book I enjoy most and refer back to is called “You Can Do It” and as i am about to head to bed for the night I have just picked up the book again to read. One of my favourite passages is about “the man in the mirror” a poem that I believe was found in the wall of a death-row prison cell in the USA. It’s a very “wow” factor piece and something that I do go back to a lot of the time.
Let us know your thoughts on the poem if you can get hold of it or know it.
    Thanks
    Jo Beaufort

  4. Ann,
Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, in my opinion, is by far one of the greatest self help books written. It has been on my desk for over 30 years. Have worn out several copies and will never be without it. Knew a sales manager who would not hire a new salesman if they did not have a copy in their library. The right attitudes along with the right system is unstoppable. I now have both with The Renegade Pro. Keep cranking it out.

Favorite Book: Mark Yarnell’s Holy Grail of Network Marketing Collection

  6. Hi Ann,

Thanks for ‘turning back the clock’ to the days of letter writing and story telling. I always enjoy the stories about how the most successful people in the world had to face ‘failure’ over and over again before they got it right.

Sometimes it’s easy to sit back and think successful people succeeded because they have some unfair advantage that excludes anyone else from attaining the same thing — or more. But that’s the easy way out.

My favorite success story which includes multiple failures is Jack Canfield’s path to building a billion dollar business. He’s the humble school teacher who ‘wrote’ “Chicken Soup For The Soul” and he was turned down by 144 publishers before a publisher agreed to publish the book. You would think that’s the end of the story, but it isn’t. It still took him and his co-author Mark Victor Hansen another TWO YEARS of pounding the pavement, phone calls, book fairs, letter writing (yep, good old fashioned letters!), give-aways, and knocking on doors before their book took off. How many of us would have given up after the first month or year of trying to get our project off the ground?

Jack Canfield tells his story in a wonderful book called “The Success Principles”. It’s the first business book I read that really turned my thinking around.

Shortly thereafter I met you, Ann, and then Alicia Bausley :) and have continued to surround myself with people who understand that ‘failure’ is a valuable part of any road to success.

Thanks again for all that you — and Mike and all the Renegades do for us.

    Peace,
    Lisa Hanfileti

  7. As a young boy, my family spent several years living in a quiet town in Wyoming, where ranches sometimes stretched for miles. The ranchers were a satisfied lot of people, but never really well off; until oil was discovered thousands of feet below them. For decades they had eked out an existence, now they were rich beyond belief. Same applies to all of us, we have riches inside of us, talents not yet mined, or worse, given up on as the story Ann recounts. Thanks for sharing this personal letter!
My current favorite book I have turned to several times for support: The Richest Man Who Ever Lived by Steven K Scott. The wisdom of Solomon retold with action plans to achieve success in life.

  8. Ann,
My favorite self-improvement book is “Think and Grow Rich”. I have revisited it many times over the past decades.

  9. I have been reading a book that goes along with the Renegade Professional teachings that has really opened up my eyes to human behavior!

Everyone doing business, whether online or not, should read this book:

The Predictably Irrational: A Behavioral Economist’s Startling Insights for Irrationally Better Living by Dan Ariely

You won’t believe the power that you can find in this book!

  10. Hi Ann,
Thank you so much for the letter.Yes for me is better to follow some one with the experience that you have , and I see that with the Renegade System and Renegade Univercity. I can not wait till TOMORROW for the Renegade Professional to reopen.
My Favorite book is Think and Grow Rich and my special quote is from A book of my favorite writter Danielle Steel. “Never Settle for Less Than Your Dreams. Somewhere, Sometime, Someday, Somehow, You’ll Find Them”. For me that’s very important and I have it all around me so when things are not going so well, that reminds me my dreams and my goals.
And you are here to help me make them real.
    Thank you so much
    Aspassia

  11. Hi Ann

My all time favourite personal dev/business book is

    “A Life at Work”

by my fav author, Thomas Moore.

(He also wrote care of the Soul and indide that he has a chapter on Work as Opus (it means “A Calling”)

    Thanks

    Tania

  12. Hallo Ann,

That’s my favorite book also. Think and grow rich.Powerfull stuff and you are right, it is better for me to follow the #3 solution wich is follow a expert with the knowlege.I will follow you and the Renegade Professional. Thank you so much for everything you do for all of us. Great job and Mike is very good in teaching us.
My special quote is from a book from my favorite author Danielle Steel
“Never Settle For Less Than Your Dreams. Somewhere, Sometime, Someday, Somehow, You’ll Find Them.”
Thank you. I can not wait till Tomorrow.

  13. Janice Swick says:

I’m with you Ann, “Think and Grow Rich”

  14. I wanted to share these books with everyone:
The World is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman and Social Media (an hour a day) by Dave Evans

    Enjoy Ian

  15. Hallo Ann,
Great stuff as always. And yes my favorite book is Think and Grow Rich and Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude, by Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone. My favorite quote is “Never Settle For Less Than Youe Dreams. Somewhere, Sometime, Someday, Somehow, You’ll Find Them”.
    Thank you
    Aspassia

  16. Nice story and inspiring. I have to admit there are stories like this one that keep me going, so I can not reffer to a specific book that inspires me. I’d rather say that true stories are always the most inspiring.
One day my story will drift amongst them, I’m sure of that, even though nobody never knew where their success is hiding. I realised that true faith to yourself keeps making those whishes come true.
I only hope that in near future we will be able to join forces and share wealth amongst everyone on the planet.

    Kind regards,
    Damir

  17. Thanks Ann, I have a copy of that fable
on my cork board to remind me to “keep digging”.
I think you and Mike have finally given us a compass to find our vein of gold.
    Thanks so much, Ron Diomedes
P.S. my favorite book is …
    The Bible

  18. My favorite book (now)
There’s a Customer Born Every Minute: P.T. Barnum’s Secrets to Business Success

  19. One of my favorites is “The Go-Getter” by Peter B. Kyne. I enjoy it because it speaks of how everyone believes he can not possibly meet his goal. Yet, he does. He even goes past it.

Inside the front cover it states, :In a time when jobs are tight and managers lack the time for mentoring, how can you maintain positive energy, take control of your career, and prepare yourself to ace the tests that come your way? By applying the timeless lessons in this compulsively readable parable…rekindle the go-getter in themselves.”

It is a short book. This makes it one that you can pick up and read cover to cover whenever you’re feeling as if you’ll never succeed!

  23. Ann,

Thanks for that warm message. I am “ole school” too, so I can completely relate to the message.

As for as my self development Guide, I have two that I reference a lot. These books keep me grounded in my faith, which also keeps me honest in my work.

    God is My CEO
    God is My Success

I remember buying these books used from Amazon because I was experiencing troubled times. I was going through some trials in my life and I was not sure if network marketing was the thing for me. I was broke, lonely and confused.

I thank Larry Julian and all the people that shared their stories in those novels because it really helped me to get back on track. I realize that this type of business can be an honest business and I now know that God wants me to prosper.

    God Bless,
    Barry

  24. Your story rings true. Most people continue to do things as long as it’s easy. Once they’re challenged for the next plateau, they usually give up and go back to their path of least resistance.

I like anything from Jim Rohn. He’s really good at building the foundational principles of success. Once you take them to heart, failure is only a prelude to success.

  25. I enjoyed your letter, it gets to the point. Your books have been very eye opening. I have two favorite books, “Think and Grow Rich” and “How To Win Friends and Influence People”

  26. Ann,

As if you didn’t have a personal touch as it is! I know you have a sincere desire to reach out to all. Thanks for this letter.

I hope people will give Renegade Pro at try. I had a woman call me up last week who told me that she had sent an e-mail into support to cancel her Renegade Pro account, simply because she had forgotten about it and thought “it probably doesn’t work anyway.” She was sent an e-mail from support telling her that she still was paid up for a month and that she could get in all the training she could before the account was canceled.

Well, she did start with the training, thinking she would see what it was about. After just going through some of the social media training she sent an e-mail right back saying “please don’t cancel my account”! She told me that the training was incredible!

I think it is hard for people to fathom just how valuable the training in Renegade pro is until they have watch a few video tutorials.

I will be personally coaching all who come into Renegade pro through my blog at http://MLMDiscovery.com/renegade-professional-re-opens-on-june-22nd/

If ANYONE has any questions as to how Renegade Pro will help them, fill out the “Contact” form on my blog and I will give you a FREE personal consultation.

    To Your Success!

  27. Sandra Flink says:

My two favorite books to turn to for inspiration are The Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and an easier read for me The Science of Success by James Arthur Ray. I’m am so looking forward to the opening of Renegade Professional. I ran across it in April shortly after the doors closed and have been checking back regularly!

  28. I especially like and have gotten so much out of “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace D. Wattles.
Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds a lot like “Acres of Diamonds” by Earl Nightingale also.
Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” is an awesome book.
    Julie Boyd-Elrod

  29. Wow, this one really hit close to home. I feel like I’ve been trying and trying but getting absolutely nowhere except more into debt. I know there’s a way to do this network marketing thing successfully. I’ve met people who are doing well. And they pointed me in this direction to learn the ropes. So will be eagerly jumping on board in the AM.

    Best to all,

    Dianna

  30. Anthony Robbins is my favorite author. 16 years ago I purchased his “30 days to personal power” trainging and started my business 1 week into that training. I like all of his books too.
I’ve read so many self development books over the last 25 years, it’s hard to remember them all. I’ve read many that have been listed already and they are all great books.

  31. Marnee Masales says:

    Hi Ann

Your letter was awesome. Right to the point. I can relate to what you wrote. When times are tough, overwhelming etc, yes we tend to give up.
This letter is very encouraging and I think everyone should read it. Not just once but several times and when we are down, go back and read it again.
Thanks for sharing it with me.

  32. Ann, my favorite self-help book of all time is “Think And Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.

  33. Thanks for sharing, Ann! My two faves are the Conversations With God series by Neale Donald Walsch and Wattles’ The Science of Getting Rich.

I’m looking forward to getting in with RP and begin to see more success in my business efforts.

    Warm regards,
    ~Daphne

  34. Harry Symons says:

    Good Morning,
Yes….. Think and Grow Rich is a great book, but there are others.
Try The Power of Focus by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Les Hewitt! Every library needs variety.
Thanks Ann. A hand written letter sure is nice every so often.

  35. Hi Ann,

My favorite self-improvement book is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. This is just a classic which has a very good foundation about being WEALTHY and I don’t mean just being rich financially.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Erwin

  36. EMMETT POLAND says:

    HELLO ANN,
THAT WAS AN INSPIRING LETTER. IT WAS A DIRECT PHOTOGRAPH OF ME AND MY LIFE AS A BUSINESS PERSON. I HAVE BEEN IN THE ANIMAL HEALTH AID INDUSTRY SINCE 1973. MY SUCCESSES HAVE BEEN SPOTTY BUT MY FAILURES HAVE BEEN OVERWHELMING.AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I FORMULATED A FLEA SHAMPOO THAT IS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF.I AM IN HOPES OF INTRODUCING IT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR HIS DOG AND OPERA AS WELL.I BELIEVE IN YOU ANN THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO…..EMMETT.

  37. Failing Forward by John Maxwell helped me at a critical point in my life. The best self-help book ever written though is the Holy Bible!

  38. Hello Ann,
Looks like “Think and Grow Rich” is the winner of the best book for self-improvement, which is the one I would also pick. Thanks for an enlightening letter.
    Lin

  39. So have you been hiding in my closet or what? LOL. Very timely letter Ann.

There are so many classics out there that have already been mentioned but a more recent one that you have likely not heard of is “Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round by Jan Janzen. This book literally gave me goose bumbs page after page it so resonated with me.

  40. Thanks for all of the information regarding Renegade Marketing; reading your tips has been very helpful. I also appreciate your references to other texts; such as the one written by Hill, Think and Grow Rich; I intend to read it.

Here are some of my favorite Business Mindset Books: 1) Real Power. This book was written nearly 20 years ago, and the author may have updated it by now, but in any case, the book defines seven levels of “power relationships” in business; for example, level one is the lowest level and it is the level of “being ruled by fear and of leading by fear”. So many of us are in this position currently, because of the economic downturn, but we can choose to move above that level, and through the other levels, in an effort to consciously determine our perspectives of power.

This book is very similar to Maslow’s Heirarchy of Needs. Maslow explains that we must meet our basic needs of survival before we can move ‘up’ the heirarchy to the top, which is the level of ‘self actualization’.

Real Power’s author refers to Maslow, but in addition, she expands on Maslow’s theories, which many researchers have also done, to help readers comprehend the notion that; instead of our movement up through the heirarchy, or levels of leadership (or following) being a straight line as Maslow described, more contemporary writers and researchers have determined that we all move back and forth among the levels depending on the ways we react to what we perceive is happening around us.

For example, the current economic downturn has moved many to following/leading through fear, and has brought many back to the lowest level on Maslow’s heirarchy to having to again meet their most basic needs. The important aspect to remember, however, is, as you pointed out in your letter, that anyone who achieves success will also have to face failure. As long as we know that though, we can continue to work our way through the levels of leadership and up among Maslow’s levels.

Another book that is somewhat older, but is often updated by its author is The Seven Habits of Successful People. In this book too, the author speaks to the importance of facing failure, but, in addition to knowing that failure is part of reality, the author points out the importance of developing a plan, not only a plan for business, but also a plan for life. This plan, the author writes, must include not only your business values, but also your live values.

This perspective helps the reader develop a ‘whole life’ rather than compartmentalizing our business lives from our personal lives; according to the author, true compartmentalizing of these ‘2 lives’ is impossible because if you have no true ‘life’ values, you will not be able to develop true ‘business’ values, and, as the author maintains, the opposite is true as well.

Both books are great reads for developing both a strong perspective of our lives’ purposes, and a strong perspective of our business’ purposes.

Another good book, one which is current (2008), is Wisdom 2.0: Ancient secrets for the creative & constantly connected. It is written by Soren Gordhamer, and this book is directed to help those of us who are attempting to navigate the social media maintain a sense of ‘mindfulness’. By maintaining mindfulness we can avoid what Ann has characterized as ‘paralysis by analysis’.

  41. Good Morning Ann:

Your handwritten message was such a “Masterpiece”
I asked my 3 Home School children to read it and
    save for the future!
    My all time inspirational book is God’s written Word;

  43. Greg Tuggle says:

    Hi Ann,

Great story it sounds like what I have been going through. I have not been having any success in my venture so I in turn have’nt been going through with the pro training like I should, I even considered throwing in the towel.

I think I am just over loaded with info, and instead of three feet away I feel like I am a mile away.

My favorite book is The Next Millionaires by Paul Zane Pilzer.

    Thank You
    Greg

  44. Thanks for the letter. I was juggling three things in my life: the day job, a business, and my writing, I had to set my business aside for awhile. Although I was always supported and encouraged, I felt like I was not doing my part as a member of the team, and to be honest, it isn’t easy seeing your friends continue to excel, win all-expense trips and huge bonuses, but I had to do what was right for me at the time. I love my business and now I am ready to devote more time to it.

This letter was great timing! Thanks!

  45. Ann, what I like in your style is that you combine inspirational stories with technical how-to stuff.

I already understood that this is critical for long term success in business.

As for the book – many have influenced me. But to name one – Don Failla’s “System” book.

I was surprised that not so many networkers know this particular book.

  46. Hi Ann
Great story and oh so true.

The book I recommend not so much as a motivational book but more as self confidence builder is The Midas Method by Stuart Goldsmith.

You learn how to develop a ‘I can’ attitude as opposed to an ‘I can’t’ one.

    Geoff (UK)

  47. Hi Ann, thank you for sharing. I have been digging for gold many times so your letter I enjoyed tremendously. There are so many good Authors and one of them is also Paulo Coelho in his messages that none of us can know what is in the mind and heart of the other person without listening and connecting with them. So,the emptiness of wealth and prosperity is subjective.
    Best wishes Monika

  48. Lynn Kratz says:

This is the first handwritten mail I’ve gotten in years! Thank you for your inspiring words but then, you always inspire. I love your MANIFESTO!!!

  49. Lee Andrus says:

Thanks Ann for the Father’s Day greeting, I’m enjoying special treatment from my family as I’m writing this!
My favorite has also got to be “Think and Grow Rich” I know that’s not very original, but the book sure was!

  50. Ann,
The book that changed my mind about income and therefore how and what qualities I needed to develope was The Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert Kiasaki. If you don’t know where you are going it doesn’t matter what path you take. This gave a purpose to my personal development.

  51. Oh and I cant wait for the Renegade Uni to open up tomorrow. Thanks Monika

  52. Marleeka says:

Hi Ann. I am writing this one handed as I have a sleepy 8 month old on my hands! LOL Imagine the time it’s taken to write this!

Thanks so much for the heartfelt letter today. It’s just what I needed. I am in information overload right now and it was refreshing to hear someone who’s been where I am now. Thank you from the one handed writer! LOL I’m ready for tomorrow so I can sign up for RPro and get moving.

My favorite book? See You At The Top by Zig Ziglar. Very motivating and real. As a matter of fact, after reading it, I had my very best month in my former NWM business as far as enrollments go.

  53. Hi Ann
Thank you for the ‘handwritten’ letter. What a great idea! I really enjoyed reading it and found it truly inspirational. I often remind my daughter about the lightbulb attempts, as I’m trying to encourage to think with a ‘can do’ attitude. That example puts things into perspective.

One of my favourite books is ‘Power Thinking’ by Caterina Rando. It is colourful which keeps my attention! It is easy to read and similar to the wheel of life helps you to highlight your priorities in life. I go back to it again and again. Ruby

  54. Great letter Ann!

I have lots of favorite books – many already mentioned – but here is a sleeper many don’t know about – “The Greatest Salesman In The World” by Og Mandino. I challenge everyone to read the scrolls written by Og Mandino as he requests in the book. It will make everyone who does a better person and the world a better place.

  55. Your persistence is amazing and commedable. I’m 74 years young and have 5 children that I’m very proud of and I’ll bet your dad is super proud of you. I keep trying but I think like your story went so did I. I have no idea how many years I have left but your story hit home and not giving up till the end seems to make a lot of sense. If I’m to continue to be an example for my 5, giving up just doesn’t make any sense either. Always know that even old dad’s need TLC.
    Thanks

  56. Jean-Francois Trin says:

Thanks Ann for your hand-written letter. Thank you for sharing your message and as always being the perfect supportive and inspiring coach that you are. It is indeed a timely message for me right now. As far as books are concerned, quite a few come to mind but my 2 favorites would have to be: “Think and grow rich” and “How to win friends and influence people”.
    God bless…
    Jean-Francois

  57. Ann,
I my favorite book is the Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert Kiosaki and my favorite tape is Earl Nightingales The Greatest Secret Ever Told.

    Thanks for the letter.

  58. H Ann and Happy Father’s Day to the Fathers in your family.
The book that started my journey 2 years ago was,As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. It was promoted as a free e-book by Vic Johnson. It was from that point that the seeds were planted that I wanted to take my MLM business online.
I agree that Think and Grow Rich is an absolute must.
My MLM group is really strong on personal development and we have a new book every month. Right now it’s hard to keep up with the reading as my efforts are here at Renegade.
Here are some of the books that others may find helpful.
    Leadership Gold- John C. Maxwell
A Fortune to Share- Paul J. Meyer
Fuel,The Energy You Need To Succeed-Wes Beavis
I have read the other comments and it’s interesting to note that we all are extensive readers.
I am so glad that I am an Intern here at Renegade Professional. It absolutely is the right place to be.
Thanks so much or the letter, it shows what a great Leader and Mentor you are.
    Pam

  59. Jean-Francois Trin says:

    Hello again, I just have to share this with you all;
“Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million-dollar mark disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of reaching decisions promptly and of changing these decisions slowly, if and when they were changed. People who fail to accumulate money, without exception, have the habit of reaching decisions very slowly, if at all, and of changing these decisions quickly and often.”
    Napoleon Hill

    Thank you and kind regards,
    Jean-Francois

  60. Ann, Thanks for the encouragement. I listen to many books to wisely use the time on my long commute. I have listened to all of Robert Kiyosaki’s books including Rich Dad Poor Dad and Cash Flow Quadrant multiple times. I also like How to Sell Anything to Anyone by Joe Girard, and the E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber.

  61. Erik Veje says:

Hi Ann. And thank you for all your good work. I haven´t done all you say I have to do to be successful, but I really am trying! My favorite book is: “The Winning Principle” by John Evan-Jones. Good stuff!!! All for now. Erik.

  62. Ann:
Enjoyed the letter very much. Thanks for taking the time to “pen” it.

While I’m sure it is already on your list, I always come back to Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” in order to put things back in perspective for me i.e “…….., teach me to fish and I’ll eat forever.”

    Thanks again,
    Jim

  63. Thanks Ann, Rich Man Poor Man and everything and anything you and Mike Klingler have put out there That I have been able to read. I have learned so much already and can’t wait to join The Renegade Professional. I missed the cut off so I hope your next class will open soon. I,m so excited to start growing my business the right way. Sincerely, Sherie

  64. Ann

Goldmine story was an interesting narration, even if it was a cooked up and hooked up, and it is a wonderful idea to give us a handwritten PDF which was the one prompted me to read it full.

Wonder what you are trying to market and how I would become a gold miner of success? Hope you knew already that i tried several times and went back up and dig another location, not digging to depth in a place. Probably this 8 to 6 rat race makes my brains loose charge to spend time online reasearching. Poor guy (me), not found success so far online.

Is your story to be taken as something that teaches me a lesson or something which actually does show me a path to some prosperity?

    Guh…

  65. Kelly Amidon says:

Thanks Ann for sharing. The leadership that you provide is second to none. My favorite book is Swim With the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive by Harvey Mackay. It is my favorite not because of it’s impact, but because it was the first self development book I ever read…as suggested by my late uncle. That book opened up the world of Napolean Hill and Og Mandino and on and on. I have been a student of self development ever since and I’m eternally grateful for my uncle’s advice.

Happy Father’s Day to your husband and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Best regards,

    Kelly Amidon

  66. Hello Ann

Thanks for your really special letter.I loved it,
not just because of the content but also because it was handwritten. There is something of the person’s essence in the handwriting.

Ann ,you are not just helping people to succeed in their businesses , you are also holding the ‘space’for them to become what they need to be.
So does Mike in his own unique way.

There are various books which I find very inspiring. The Secret is a favourite.
However the book which I find embraces people in their strive to become what they’d like to be is:
Carl R.Rogers ‘On Becoming a person’

Although a book for psychotherapists it touches
exactly the subject of people and their processes
to become themselves and be FREE.

The Renegade Professional guides expertly and yet
in a respectful way each one of us to reach their
goal in our own pace and style.

Many thanks for being so generous in sharing your knowledge, wisdom and expertise.

    Susanna

  67. Hi Anne! Okay… you’ve got my attention again. Good “twist” with the handwritten post. You must have seen Frank Kern’s “bird finger” letter too… :o) Anyway… my copy of “Think and Grow Rich” was printed in… 1966… and is held together with duct tape!

  68. Tori Edwards says:

Thanks Ann for the great inspiration. I am new to the system & look forward to all of the benefits offered! My current book of inspiration is “The Secret”

Thanks & Happy Day to you
    Tori Edwards

  69. Katherine Swick says:

Hi Ann! I’ve enjoyed reading my e-mails from you and your team. Thank you. Thank you for the letter.
The Secret by Rhonda Bourne was the one that started for me.
Since then I have read “You’re Broke because you want to Be” Larry Winget (his 3 other books too);”Tribes” Seth Godin; “Rich Dad Poor Dad” Robert T. Kiyosaki (plan to read more of his books);”Why You’re Sick Dumb and Broke” Randy Gage; “Tribe” Seth Godin (plan to read more of his books) and “Does This clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?” Peter Walsh; and “Celiac Disease A Hidden Epidemic” Peter H. R. Green, M.D. and Rory Jones. I have the “Think and Grow Rich” on my computer, but I have never read it. I guess I’d better put that one on my priority list. Take care of yourself.
    Katherine Swick

  70. Jean Nash says:

Awesome letter — it’s so great to have someone take the time to actually sit down and write a letter. Thanks for sending me (& all of us) such timely words of wisdom. Couldn’t agree with you more about your favorite book, “Think & Grow Rich,” it’s truly a spectacular classic. My personal favorites also include (so hard to choose just one)- “The Greatest Salesman In The World” by Og Mandino; “Infinite Self” by Stuart Wilde; and anything by Dr. Wayne Dyer. It’s so important to have life balance; mind, body & spirit, so I can’t just limit my favs to “just” business mindset books because having a healthy mind, body and spirit makes a difference. If one part is out of whack, then it affects the whole. Thanks again for all you do, it’s made such a difference in my life. Warm Regards, Jean

  71. Hello Ann,

I think that story get closer to me every time i hear it. And i never get tired of it a very realistic story closer to a lot of than will know.

I just got done with a small book by Andrew James the introduction is by John Maxwell.

It also turns back the clock a little for some of use but very inspiring to me.

Sorry got lost for a minute the name of the is,
    GRADUATE TO GREATNESS.

Hope Brain has a happy Fathers day and god bless you all.

P.S did you get the Kindle?

  72. Thanks so much, Ann for the great uplifing letter. Yes indeed hand-written notes and letters are so very special.

There are so many great books it is hard to pick just one. The one that got me started on this journey is Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker..Our mindset is the key to making progress and finding wealth in all areas (spiritual, physical, emotional, and financial).

Wishes for great success as you continue to help us all move forward!

  73. Hi Ann-
Well, having just gotten home from church to find your email in my inbox, I thought I’d add mention of my favorite book- “Jesus, Life Coach” by Laurie Beth Jones. Its easy t stay on the right path when you follow His footsteps.
I’m so glad you asked this question of us all becuase now I am remeided of how great this book is and I’ll be reading it again, starting this afternoon.

    blessings,
    Cathy

  74. Hi Ann!Beautiful letter! Many thanks!
I’m sure you’ll agree that as long as people live they’ll face problems. Right? But how do they know that they have a problem if they don’t know what the definition of “a problem” is? So in early ’70s I did a library research, and to my astonishment the definition I was looking for seemed to be cleverly hiding. It’s difficult to find. Even in problem solving books! No definition of a problem. Until I read Merlyn Cundiff’s “Kinesics: The Power of Silent Command” where she said that “…reduced to the lowest common denominator and stripped for the essence of simplicity, a problem is nothing more than the difference between waht a person has, and what he wants” Reality versus fantasy. If we can create a workable plan that connects our reality to our fantasy. Do it consistently. We’ll succeed. Don’t start from assumptions, start from what you are, the reality. It’s the basic of RenegadePro too, isn’t it?
Two other books are “Hold Your Audience” by William McCallough with his KSEP formula (Knowledge – Sincerity – Enthusiasm – Practice) and “Be The Person You Were Meant To Be” by Dr.Jerry Greenwald that deals with “toxic” and “nourishing” aspects of life.
Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”? Of course!
May God’s blessings always be with you and your family!

  75. Hi Ann great story thanks for reminding me, I’ve
started THINK and GROW RICH again so you cought me at the right time with this story there were
a number of times when I got ready to give this up and everytime I think about my why and keep plugging away I glad I found you and the Renegade. I’m going to get over the hump this time.

    To Your Success

    Alexis Salaam

  76. Marisa Herrera says:

Thanks, Ann, for the message in your hand-written letter. Powerful!
One of my favourite books is ‘Law of Attraction: the science of attracting more of what you want and less of what you don’t’ by Michael Losier.
It’s fundamental in understanding and applying one’s energy and focus to manifest what we want.

  77. Hi Ann,
I loved the story. It is so true, and I’m sure I have done just that before (given up too soon), but not this time… I believe in myself now. I think Think & Grow Rich is THE book also. However, one saying that resonates with me is “The story in your mind is the story of your life” (heard from Kody Bateman), and I keep reminding myself of that as I move forward with my business.
    Thanks for all you do.

  78. Excellent letter! Thanks!

As for the most “life-altering” self help mindset training book I’ve read – that’s simple. It would have to be my Bible. I have it in several translations and versions and I love comparing how different generations say the same thing. This book has so enhanced my life and I couldn’t imagine being without it.

More specifically in the area of business and finance success, that would have to be the Book of Proverbs. There is so much in each of the 31 chapters and for years I’ve gone with the concept of “A Proverb a day keeps depression and failure away”.

“Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill would probably be my second choice … or maybe it would be
“The Millionaire Mindset” by Harv L Ecker

Some of my other favorites are:
“Acres of Diamonds” by Earl Nightingale
“Rich Dad Poor Dad” or “Cash Flow Quadrant” by Robert Kiyosaki
“Multiple Streams of Income” Robert G Alan

In reality, there are so many good inspirational and motivational books available to us these days. However, I believe that it’s not enough to just have these books in our library, although that’s the first step. The real key is taking these books into our hands and inputting the truths and lessons from these books into our hearts and our daily lives.

Having the books on our office shelves or our desks and never opening them is like having your own Lamborghini or Porsche sitting in your driveway yet never taking the keys off the rack, starting the engine and hitting the road.

What value is there in owing something if we never allow it to add value to our daily life?

Thanks for reminding us to never give up.

  79. Hi Ann,

That is a great story that opens my eyes every time I read it. I have drawn great inspiration from the books of Robert Kiyosaki. I hope you are having a great day. As always, I look forward to all of your letters.

    Thanks again, Larry

  80. I really appreciate the hand-written letter. I am new to internet marketing and a relatively new network marketer. I know I need to use all the resources at my disposal to be successful in this field. My all time favorite book for personal development is “Think and Grow Rich”, by Napolean Hill, a timeless book that holds as true today as it did back then……Thanks again!

  81. Ann thank you so much, first for the Father’s day wish and secondly for that wonderful letter of encouragement.I hope you don’t mind me passing that along to my team, what a great inspiration and a testimony to the fact that “Quitting can never ever be an option”,in business and in life.

    Here’s to everyone’s success.

  82. Gary Miller says:

My favorite personal development book is “The Story of Paul J.Meyer by Paul J.Meyer.

I am considering and praying about your program.

  83. My favorite book for self help has been “The Secret”. I have watched the movie and read the book and now I am learning how to make the Law of Attraction work for me.
The other book which has given me some really good ideas, especially about sending out cards has been, “How to Sell Anything to Anyone” by Joe Girard, the greatest salesman in the world. I have been listening to it on tape and he sound like a boring guy, but has some good ideas.

  84. Ann,
My favorite book about self help has been “The Secret”. I have started working to understand how the Law of Attraction can help me.
I also have been listening to Joe Girard’s book, “How to sell anything to anyone”.
    Steve

  85. Lorri Wojcik says:

    Ann

The letter was great. My favorite book was Rich Dad Poor Dad. I had to opt out of the training due to funds problems but I still haven’t given up.

    Thanks
    Lorri

  86. Thanks Ann for the note. The information can be overwhelming but it is so clear and concise that it is easy to get back on track. No one should ever think that building a sustainable business is quick and easy. My favorite personal development books include:

Wisdom of the Ages: 60 Days to Enlightenment by Wayne Dyer
The Difference Maker: Making Your Attitude Your Greatest Asset by John C. Maxwell
The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

It is time that we all go out and make a difference! Thanks for helping us do just that!

  87. Ann,

As I read through the previous posts, I agree with most about their choices…with Think & Grow Rich of course at the top of the list!!
“Rhinoceros Success”by Scott Alexander is another great one that focuses on our mindsets. This one is great for kids!! (has illustrations and is written in larger font). Short enough to read at one sitting….
I don’t recall if anyone else mentioned it but your Renegade Network Marketer Book validated everything that I felt about network marketing. I knew there had to be a way to harness the internet to build a business, I just had no idea on how to do that!! Now with Ren Pro – I am on my way…
God Bless You for having the courage to go out on limb and write that book!

  88. Ann,

Thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts to paper, which, as you said, not many of us do anymore.

I am slowly (due to time constraints) making my way through Renegade Professional and look forward to the reopening.

I am currently reading How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Even though it was written in the 1930s, it is still very current.

  89. Hi Ann-
Thanks for the note – I just opened Renegade Pro and found your message so I haven’t gotten to the actual letter yet but that’s next on the to-do list. But thank-you in advance. I value all the messages that come from you and reading the other comments just reinforces the belief that this will be no different.

However, I know failure in new endeavors well. And success (although limited) in past endeavors as well. Although patient and understanding that it is the process that will bring me to financial success I expect to find that reality very soon with the guidance found here.

Network marketing is a powerful vehicle for financial stability, freedom and making a contribution for the betterment of the world. I believe wholeheartedly in the business model. But for me, finding the audience and speaking their language has not been largely successful. My ability to continue along this path is quickly closing in. So, I am not especially enthusiastic about a message that begins with the warning that another failure, much like Thomas Edison’s 1500 successful ways not to flip the switch and see light, is really another form of success. Perhaps so but my reality requires financial support. Time is money after all.

Renegade Professional, an my commitment to using the tools you and Mike teach will bring financial success to the forefront. Along the path, a few more, short-lived failures are part of the journey but your approach will bring about success in one form or another. I am beginning to understand why there are so many internet marketing gurus out there. The fortune is in the training itself – otherwise you’d be teaching me how to market nutritionals.

Like many before me, the first title that came to mind when you asked is Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich – it struck me as true with the first reading – much like my first reading of your Renegade Marketer a year or more ago.

  90. Thank you for sharing Ann. I’ve also read that book and many others. But what has stayed with me the longest is a story similar to the one you relate.

It’s called, “Acres Of Diamonds.” It is inspiring for the same reasons your story is but is more applicable to those who are “opportunity hopping” when things get too rough.

Here is a link to the story online:

  91. Hi Ann, A hand written letter that touches the emotions with a story that hits the spot at the right moment.
    Very encouraging, thank you.

I have many favorite books but these are a few:
    The Magic of Thinking Big – David J Schwartz;
    How to Win Friends & Influence People – Dale Carnegie;
    What You Say When You Talk To Your Self – Shad Helmstetter;
    Rich Dad Poor Dad – Robert T Kiyosaki;
    Personality Plus – Florence Littauer;
    Say Yes to Your Potential – Skip Ross;
    Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus – John Gray;
    The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen R Covey;
and finally You Can Heal Your Life – Louise L Hay.
These are all good mind food for everyone. Keep up the good work, regards Adrian

  92. Seth Padi says:

Thanks,Ann, for your hand written-letter.The situation the letter depicts is exactly what I am going through now. Another problem is also about how to come up with a substantial amount of money to jump start my business which is creating a WEB SITE. Not any web site but a VALUABLE WEB SITE. Another set back is that I work in a factory 8hrs a day(morning and afternoon)and leaves me with less time to stay behind the computer.I need your help.

  93. Ma’am,

Think and grow rich is the book that changed my life in means of how to think, and how to set my life’s goals. Another GREAT book is called: “The Slight Edge” Written by Jeff Olsen.

Thanks for YOUR book, and I am VERY excited about referencing it more and more!

I can’t wait to see what you will do next!

    Hello Ann,
That was a fantastic handwritten letter. The content was really well said.

You really have encouraged me a lot.

I almost gave up already just recently with my being a life insurance adviser. But I did not allow this to happen. Giving up must not be an option here.

There are lots of people out there who can really influence our way of thinking and to a point of influencing us in our way of life but I dont want that to happen.

I really appreciate it so much that you constantly communicate with me.

I need a copy of your book for addtional knowledge.

    Anyway, more power to you!!!

    Thanks.
Evelyn T. Logan( Cebu City, Philippines )

  95. Candice Jones says:

Thanks for the letter Ann! Right now I’m reading Ready, Set…Grow by Dondi Scumaci. It’s a great way to keep inspired. Think and Grow Rich is next on my list!

  96. Hi Ann,
I have finished several books over the past few months and I have to say my favorite book is Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill with No Matter What – Lisa Nichols and The Success Principles – Jack Canfield. I still many more to read.

Your handwritten letter was touching and an eye opener. Thank you for sharing it.

  97. First of all, I never would have been able to get my website up and running without Renegade Pro tutorials. So many many thank you’s to Anne, Mike, Kevin, Didi, the women entrepreneur goddesses and everyone in the RPro community for these past 60+ days of accelerated learning (and semi-accelerated doing!)

There are some great books mentioned in the comments here. The one book which has had the most motivating influence on me in my life, and also the most reassuring that it’s never too late to step it up and start doing more:

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson
    http://tinyurl.com/lyal7u

    Words to live by.

    Best, Evan

  98. Dear Ann:
It was encouraging with your stories of people giving up, and it isn”t hard to do. What is hard is going on in a different direction. Your comments are good, but when I odered and read your Renegade program, I didn”t get all the information I expected. So I am hoping for some more info. that will help. Thank you. Carolyn Lane

  99. Ann–After 13 years in network marketing, the book that turned my biz around is business coach and business strategist Paula English’s workbook. 5 STEPS FOR STRATEGIC BUSINESS PLANNING: A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR THE 21ST CENTURY ENTREPRENEUR. She wrote it specifically because of the staggeringly high number of businesses that don’t make it. She taught me to create my image, identify my target market, inventory my resources, create a plan of action, and gather the tools. It’s available at http://www.PaulaEnglish.com, as is information about how to get in on her free marketing call every Thursday night at 9PM Eastern and her other tools and resources.

  100. Harold Boyer says:

My best self help book that I have read is (Think and grow rich). It is an absolute must for anyone who is wanting to change there way of thinking and make a difference in there life. I keep it handy for when I get discouraged. Keep up the good work you are doing, you sure do make this world a better place for just being in it for us to look up to. Thanks again Ann!!!!!!!

  101. Ann, this handwritten letter came to me right after getting home from church this morning. God’s confirmations are so amazing, as I was just praying about this very issue today with our pastor and his wife. They and myself are going through that threshold, where we feel we are just “three feet away” and satan is trying to convince us to give up. We WILL NOT GIVE UP. I WILL NOT GIVE UP, no matter what the circumstances look like. I will live by faith and not by sight. Your inspirational story came at the perfect time, and I thank you for it. From my spirit. And, I have to say, even though I am tempted to list MANY books as my favorites, the most inspirational book, no doubt, for me….. The Bible. No other book can compare. Thank you so much, Ann. God Bless You. May you find favor with Him. (Your marketing strategies are not JUST marketing. They are turned into blessings.)

  102. Hi, Ann!

  103. Ann, thanks so much for the time you put into your trainings. The industry has waited a long time for this. The first book I would recommend to anyone is the slight Edge by Jeff Olsen. What a world of difference it can make in your life by following this principal. The next books are Business School For People Who Like helping people by Robert Kiosaki, Tribes by Seth Godwin.

Ps.. With so many letters you wanted to mail, I am sure you could have gotten a bulk discount! HaHa!

Napoleon Hill’s book is an all time favorite of mine that I refer back to many times. Each chapter is a lesson in itself and an inspiration.
Everyone should read it…at least once!

    Hi Ann:
Loved your handwritten letter and the story. It sure brought home the point that persevering in the face of adversity pays off. Thanks for the uplifting message!

One of my favorite books is “The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. It’s less than 100 pages so a quick read and describes a lot of ways to use creative thought to make your life richer and fuller.

Thanks again for your personal, positive message. It came at exactly the right time!

  110. Hi Ann.

I love the handwritten piece, even if it’s electronically delivered. And of course, the inspiring reminders.

My personal favorite is “The Traveler’s Gift” by Andy Andrews. It’s an easy read, yet filled with inspiring lessons that anyone can benefit greatly from.

I haven’t gotten it yet, but the author has a new book out called “The Noticer” which I am looking forward to reading.

    Cheers!
    Hiro

  111. Herb Melton says:

Thanks for the inspiration for dealing with setbacks.I immediately recognized the story from “Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. That book is also one of my favorite personal development books of all time. I have read and still read it.There is one other book that has also been a tremendous aid in my self development. That is “Psycho-Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz. It’s good to have a reminder from time to time, to keep on pushing, when the path to our dreams seem blocked,or that feeling of being overwhelmed tries to take over.
    Thanks again.

  112. Dear Ann,

What a wonderful gift! I love handwritten letters. You can feel the person so much in their handwriting. I appreciate you taking the time to share with us today.

Many, many people have shared their valuable books, inspirations and stories in these comments. It’s hard to add to a list like this. This comment list alone is a valuable resource for any business builder.

My only thoughts are that even if we don’t have personal development books, we can always learn everything we need by observing ordinary life events. Recently, I observed my daughter jump into some huge life changes. She is scared but she is willing. She doesn’t let ideas of what these changes may be like get in her way.

Sometimes success is simply getting out of our own way. We must stop letting our ideas prevent us from reaching our potential. Thomas Edison didn’t let the idea of 9,999 tries get in his way of the next one. He didn’t let his idea of wasted effort or “taking too long” stop him. He persevered because he believed in his experiments.

    Thank you for your letter,

    Julia

  113. Jason Lappe says:

Great information, Ann! I think it’s extremely important that people realize the road to success is paved with setbacks. The RPro teachings are the absolute best in the industry, but it’s easy for people to want immediate results without going through the necessary process of getting their marketing systems in place, and getting their name and message out to the market – It takes time and patience.

One of the best books (In my opinion) is “The Seasons Of Life” by Jim Rohn.

  114. My fav book has to be the Bible. Whether you’re relgious or not, the same principles that Hill, Kiyosaki & numerous other talk about have been around since the beginning of time. “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.”- Prov 16:32. This is MINDSET people! “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”-Prov 3:5 BELIEF! My point here is, these principles are nothing new! Go forth my like minded people & conquer!

  115. Wow ANN this is so awesome. I have been putting off by buying this book by Napolean Hill , but after reading the pdf attachment …..all I can say is WOW….thank you so much for doing what you do….I feel so blessed that God put you in my path…

    Have A great Weekend,

    Margarita

  116. Annette Bates says:

    Hi Ann:
Loved the handwritten letter, it hit home. My favorite book so far, (I haven’t read to many) is
Napoleon Hill: Grow Rich! with Peace of Mind. Probably any of NH’s books and the Bible of course. Thanks for all your help!

    Annette Bates

  117. Wally Magnuson says:

I not sure if I am doing this correctly – your letter is very inspiring and I am feeling a bit like the Darby’s….Have invested so much with so little gain. Wishing you the best….Have a great day! God Bless

  118. I have enjoyed reading Rich Dad Poor Dad a couple of times, would like to read some of the others mentioned.
I am having a problem getting off the dime, I know RenU and RenPro have loads of good information to use, and that its good even for a newbie. But I seem to be in the PRE-NEWBIE cat. I have spent the last 5 weeks trying to get pictures out of a WinZip file, I did succeed twice, then lost them in Microsoft office somewhere.
I’ve looked everywhere in the vidios for help to overcome my problem and so far have been unable to find an answer. Is there a kindergarden section I can go to for help? I’m going to make it work, come h— or high water, I just am looking for one bit of help to get me over the hump! I’m not planning to give up YET, and I don’t want to kick my dog around the block then she wouldn’t lick my hand when the alarm goes off in the AM.
Can somebody point me that crack in the wall, so that I can start moving?

  119. My 1st book after Think and grow rich is:

    “The magic of thinking BIG”.

    So long, Igal

  120. Napolean Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”

Thank you Ann, for the Father’s Day wish.
Thank you as well for the reminder there are no failures only experiences.

  121. Hi, this handwritten letter and scanning was a good idea! Just five short years ago dear neighbor of mine recommended this book and it was kind of a milestone for me because I thought that if as wise man as this author is, uses quotes from bible, there has to be something in it… :) Paulo Coelho: The Alchemist

  122. Thanks for the letter! What a great idea! The stories make me realize that true success is really in the journey, not the destination. My favorite read is “Ask and It is Given” by Ester and Jerry Hicks. This is the “secret behind the secret” as they say and full of really positive, helpful ways to manifest your dreams! Hope all the dads in your family have a happy day!

  123. Think And Grow Rich is the second best business bokk ever written. I believe the relationship and business information in The Bible surpasses it.

A more recent book that has inspired me is Bob Burg and John David Mann’s business parable: The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea. It answers the question: What does the busy sales executive need to learn in order to meet his monthly quota?

  124. Georgia Hackmann says:

    Hi Ann,

I enjoyed your letter and also like THINK & GROW RICH. I have read all of Robert Kiyosaki’s books. I like RUNNING WITH THE GIANTS by John C. Maxwell, THE DREAM GIVER by Bruce Wilkinson, THE TRAVELER’S GIFT by Andy Andrews, THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE by Rick Warren, POSITIVE THINKING by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, BEYOND POSITIVE THINKING by Dr. Robert Anthony and last but not least, WHAT TO SAY WHEN YOU TALK TO YOUR SELF by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. I have read so many of the books mentioned already by others, as well as many more.

Thank you so much for writing your letter to us.
    Georgia

  125. Kerstin Koch says:

    Hey Ann,
thanks for the great inspiration you gave to me – actually it made it to germany!
My only regret is that it´s not in german language so far!
Nevermind… I want togive one of my favourite books to you! It´s
    “Earl Nightingale’s The Strangest Secret”
that I got in a special german Edition which is pictured with stunningly beautiful illustrations.

    Thanks again! Kerstin

  126. Dee Reilly says:

It was a very nice letter Ann and well timed. I’m just getting started and experiencing the trials and tribulations of “trial and error.” The book I highly recommend to people is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It’s an oldie but a goodie.

  127. Hello Ann,

Thank you for this handwritten letter…Good timing…It was such encouragement for me. I really need it.
I am overwhlemed by the fact that I have to learn all the new technology stuffs in 90 days that I am not familiar with, and a full time job….But I will keep going even though it may take me longer than 90 days. Digging deeper.
    I love that story….edna

  128. Thanks for the handwritten letter. Nice ideas and a nice way of getting them out to us. I am reading this book right now. This is a wonderful book. I had read it many years ago and saw it recently on my bookshelf and am very glad I picked it up and started to read it again. I also really enjoy the book by Dale Carnegie “How to Win Friends and Influence People”.

  129. Hi Ann! Thanks for the reminder. It came at a good time. I just got this site from an e-mail and it is a great little video about what just 1 more degree can mean. It’s worth sharing and I hope you agree. It goes along with what you just wrote about. http://212.6scoach.com

    Thank You
    Jerry

  130. I just joined twitter. It as been on my list of to do things.
I favorite self help book is ONE COMMAND, by Asara Lovejoy.

  131. Johnny Hopkins says:

    Ann,

Thanks for the letter. That sounds like me the past few months trying different opportunities but none really appealing to my situation. I am definitely going to keep at and one day I will be successful.

  132. latest books read and that I have foound helpful are:
1 – The Ultimate marketing plan – Dan Kennedy
2 – Guerrilla Marketing For Consultants – By Jay Conrad Levinson
3 – The Internet Business Manifesto – Rich Schefren
    4 – The Alchemist – Paulo Coehlo

  133. Ann,
What a great letter. Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”, and W. Clement Stone’s The Success System that Never Fails.
Here is a paragraph from Stone’s book.
Otto Propach turned temporary defeat into permanent success because he knew what he was looking for and he did something about it. He was looking for opportunity to work in a field in which he was an expert, but to do this, he had to concentrate his efforts in intensive study. And this was real work. but after he gained the knowledge, it was his. He could use it as he pleased, and no one could take it away from him.
This is what we are getting from you and Mike and no one can take it away from us.

  134. Hi Ann,

For me, the first personal development book that I read was Bob Proctor’s ‘You were Born Rich’, which I still love. It led me to where a lot of your other subscribers have also gone, to Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’, which is still a favourite.
I continue to dip into both of these books regularly.
    Thank you.

  135. charles hampton says:

“Three feet from gold” has been my mantra this week. Sometimes you need stories like that to keep you going when things don’t seem to be working out. I also have CD set of Think and Grow Rich which, at this point is the only thing I am listening to in my car.

  136. Alf Chomse says:

    Nice letter!
In a nutshell “Winners never quit, and quitters seldom win”
Current Favourite book is “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle.

  137. Ann,

Thank you for the handwritten letter. I have saved it on several mediums because I have worked long enough with computers to not trust them.
My all time favorite is “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.
I am putting the final touches on my Hub Page along this very same line. I seem to be reading an extremely lot of comments from people “ready to give up”.
    Thanks Again
    Smile and watch it multiply

  138. Ronny Nilsson says:

Wow, Ann, I love your idea with the hand written letter! It’s like fresh air to stop reading my emails and review something hand written :))

I’ve read a lot of PD and business books. I have to say though that it all really made sense to me after reading Robert Kiyosaki’s books. I especially like his Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Cashflow Quadrant.

  139. Hi Ann,
Thank you for the letter and the story, I read it at Napoleon Hill’s book, but this was a refreshing reminder.
My favorite self development book is Spiritual Marketing by Joe Vitale. This is of course a Business oriented self-development book. Among the non-business oriented self development books my favorite is The Road Less Travelled by M. Scott Peck.
    Thank you once again,
    Vered.

  140. Anne,

Thank you so much. I love the idea of the hand written letter and the reminders to not give up is just what I needed. Thank you very much. DJ

  141. f.l.fox says:

ann, i really appreciated you taking the time out to write me,,,it’s not that your perspective is new to me,but that sometimes we all need it to be reinforced, especially when life throws you a challenge. i’m not a reader of self-help books(maybe i should be)but i read john horvat’s book Escape from the Green Felt Jungle a semi-autobiography which details his rise to success, what inpressed me most was the way he did it-honorably.i feel that too little is made of people succeeding without having to resort to games(conning friends and family)and distortive practices sometimes people are afraid to succeed because they feel that they have to resort to these techniques

  142. “Absolute Happiness” by Michael Rowland is the best self-development book that I have read.

  143. Ann,
Thanks so much for your letter – been there done that. Quit several years but I’m back and thanks to your Attraction Marketing book, I have a whole new perspective and energy.

My all-time favorite book that inspires me every day is “The Amazing Law of Influence” by King Duncan. His premise is “one life touches another life and both lives are potentially changed…”
    Thanks again.
    Susan

  144. Hello Ann,
    What a delightfull letter !!
I realy enjoyed reading it. It was so simple, warm, easy to read and understand and ORIGINAL too.
I connected to it right away. I think that it happens a lot that people give up just before hitting their target, not knowing they are so close..
I know that I’m close. VERY CLOSE. I can feel it.
And the Renegade professional that re-opens tomorrow is just the platfom I need to help me..
Bless you, both you and Mike have created a perfect platform to take us all by the hand and to lead all of us seekers step-by-step to sucsess.

    Thank you again,
    Gaby Di-Capua

  145. “Your Thoughts Can Change Your Life” by Donald Curtis taught me that I have the power to replace non-constructive thoughts with constructive ones, and that’s all I need to succeed.

  146. Dear Ann, Both you and Mike are very encouraging. Thanks so much -I was considering quitting lately.
My favorite and the one we can count on 100% as the most accurate self-development book ever written is the Bible. My next favorite is called Liberating Your Magnificence written by a beautiful couple Scott and Shannon Peck- this book has helped me tremendously. I have also found very interesting and helpful the book A Happy Pocketful of Money. Thanks again for all the encouragement.
    Sincerely, Mary Harris

  147. Dear Ann, I truly loved your handwritten letter! It was like a breath of fresh air. The letter was so powerful to me, just to know that there is still hope for me if I keep my focus and don’t expect too much too soon.

I have to admit that I haven’t read too many self development books, but I HAVE read “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and “How To Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie.

Thank you so much for taking the time to keep us all on the “right track”.

  148. Hi Anne:

Thank you for your letter. It is true that we should never give up to pursue our dreams but we also need to know the right path in order to be successful in life. I am a bookworm, so I have many favor books. Just to name one or two or three: The Greatest Man who Ever Lived by Steven K. Scott;Scriptures and Meditations for Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I look forward tonight chat with you.

  149. I would have to say the most influential Self-Help Book I’ve read, well there are 2 actually, and they are perfect together.

#1 = UNSTOPPABLE by Cynthia Kersey. Especially the story about “Road Warriors Of A Different Kind,” about Dick and Rick Hoyt. This taught me that I really have NO EXCUSES for not succeeding in life. If this Father & Son Team can accomplish what they have – I really do have no excuses.

#2 = MIND POWERS IN THE 21ST CENTURY by John Kehoe. It’s all about the Power of the Mind, as well as how our thoughts really do shape/create our Physical Reality.

    Thanks for asking.

    Mike.

  150. Hi Ann
My favorite inspiring book is “Think And Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill

  151. Hi Ann, the story in your letter is from my favorite go to book Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’, it describes some of the things i have been guilty of in the past.

Since finding you and Mike those thoughts of quitting don’t trouble me anymore.

With so many replies and suggestions i now have another valuable resource that any business builder would be proud to own.

Thanks Ann for a great fathers day gift, after spending the day at the beach with my family i have recharged my batteries and look forward to tomorrow.

    Mike

  152. Josie Elary says:

    Hello Ann,

Thank you so very much for All the incredible information you are providing, a new bee like me.
I am currently reading “The Secret of the Millionnaire Mind” by T.Harv Eker, that a friend gave me last week. It’s very powerful.
    God Bless you! Josie

  153. Don Murray says:

    Dear Ann:
Thanks for the great handwritten letter. I wished more people would get personal in these days of overwhelming, impersonal technology.

My favorite self-development book is the Bible! I have found that when I put myself aside and look into God’s principles of development, that I can forge ahead with great confidence.

    Thank you so much.

  154. Joyce Edwards says:

    DearAnn,
My favorite is How To Win Friends and Influence People. Some one at work said that I was so lame I had to read a book on how to get friends. It shows how most people aren’t really to expand their attitudes. The letter reminds me of the great Winston Churchill’s battle cry “Never Give Up”

  155. Hi Ann!
Thanks for the encouragement through the darby story. AM trying to setup a website on mlm and internet marketing and gradually grow in the industry. Over the past two weeks i have been overwhelmed by information, and i was almost giving up since i really didn’t know where to focus. I guess it is time to stop digging aimlessly and consult for guidance from experts like you. Looking forward to your mentorship.
Guess what my favourite old time classic in personal development is? “Think and Grow Rich”. Started reading it for the fourth time a month ago.
Ann, looking forward to your guidance.

    Regards,
    Martin.

  156. Ann,
THANK YOU! Your letter could not have came at a better time in my life of ups and downs. It brought tears to my eyes, especially the part about those who had suffered failure before success. Why should I think it would be any different for me? Just yesterday I probably threw the biggest pity party ever! I was really down from failure. Before retiring for the night I went back through rpro and th 90 day list and decided today to just start over!
Of course I then turned to my Bible (my lifeline) and read it and turned it over into the hands of someone I knew could show me the way. After church I stopped by the post office to get the mail and there it was….my very first affiliate check from one of the affiliates that your system has taught me to promote, so thank-you again!

One things is for certain, we have to believe in ourselves, keep our faith , and never quit! I know in my heart that this is what is in my future and after struggling for some time now, Renegade Professional is the only thing that has made sense. I do read motivational books because they inspire me and let me know that it DOES happen for people…many people. Napoleon Hill is great but my main inspiration and motivation came from a book called “Your Best Life Now” by Joel Olsteen. Reading this book on a daily basis helped to totally turn my life around. Today, a few years later I still go back and read it again and again!

I must repeat it once more, THANK YOU! Not just for the exceptional letter or the renegade systems but for being “YOU”! Someone who cares enough to share with her heart, not just her head…and it really shows.

    Be Blessed,
    Sherry Prince

  157. Hi Ann,
Thanks for such an awesome letter. I think that is one I will read whenever I need the inspiration in a short dose.

Like you, I love Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. But the one book that turned me on to starting my own business and how important it was and that I could do it through MLM/Network Marketing/Direct Sales was “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. That totally turned my world around.

I have found Renegade Professional one of the best if not the best training programs out there and hope to inspire others using that system.

Thanks for everything you and Mike do!

  158. Thanks for the inspirational words. Were you writing about me? It sure hit close to home. The well’s almost dry, but I refuse to give up on trying to find out what’s clogging it up. I know the source is there somewhere (probably about three feet to the right?). Coincidentally enough, I’m currently reading Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich,” and I have to agree it’s an encouraging piece of work. Well, it is Father’s Day and I’ve been sitting here working all day. Think I’ll go spend some time with my family. Thanks for reminding me what’s most important.

  159. Lanette says:

    Hi, Ann:

Thank you for the letter. Bottom line. It said it all. That is what it “boils down to”. Thank you! My two favorite self development books are, “If How-To’s Were Enough We Would All Be Skinny, Rich, and Happy” by Brian Klemmer and “Rebuilding from Ground Zero” an empowering guide to building and securing wealth by Seni Hazzan, MBA, CPA. Thank you for your persistence and coaching. Lanette

  160. Thanks Ann. That truly is a great book that is worth reading over and over. Thanks for reminding us and for taking time out to write us a letter. Cool!

  161. Hi Ann,

This is a great story! It’s so true, too. Sometimes when we feel like giving up, success was just around the next corner. It’s so sad how many people don’t have stick-to-it-iv-ness. Our society is like a microwave. We want everything and we want it now!!!

    Thanks again for the reminder.

You asked us for our favorite self development book and my first thought is the Bible. It’s a great instruction manual.

Thanks for all you do with The Renegade. You’re the best!!! :-)

    Michelle Moseley

  162. Thanks Ann. That truly is a great book that is worth reading over and over. Thanks for reminding us and for taking time out to write us a letter. Cool!

    Oops forgot the gravatar!

  163. Dear Ann
I have been rambling around the internet for sometime now, not knowing which way to turn. This letter is an inspiration in its self. All should appreciate it. I am 66 years old and been in sales all my life. I have read them all. But, I have two Authors that stand out for me. Zig Ziglar (Gods Way Is Still The Best Way) Joe Girard (How To Sell Anything to Anybody) The way to the top is always from within. I almost forgot how inportant it is to keep searching the heart, and follow the dreams.
    Yvonne, Arkansas

  164. Arlene Oliver says:

I love John C. Maxwell, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.” Follow Them and People Will Follow You.

  165. TA Lawrence says:

    Hi Ann,
Thank you for your encouragement. These are the issues I face every day trying to work a full time job, be a deacon on a church board, be a quality husband and father, AND try to develop a web-based marketing powerhouse. I have to agree with Sherry Prince one of my favorite reads is “Your Best Life Now” by Joel Olsteen. This is a very positive read for anyone that needs a hand up. It is not heavy religion either. Try it, you will like it!

  166. Michael Robinson says:

    Hi Ann,
As with everyone else I so do enjoy a hand written letter as it shows that you really do care. One of these letters will bring a smile to anyone face and maybe that smile is all that they need to get through the day. I am fairly new to the marketing thing and as with others showed frustation when the sights that are spoke of do not materialize as maybe you hoped they would. So with that I have made my mind up to finally give this thing an honest shot using the proper coaching. The internet is the coming thing or for some it is already here. My favorite book that I have read is the same as most “Think and Grow Rich” by Mr. Hill. Look forward to working with all the professionals.

    Michael

  167. Carlos Kusto says:

    Hello Ann,
Thank you for the great story and a reminder to us that failure is somthing that is very close but we then quit on things that can be accomplished. Now you have given me a new route on approaching challenges that i face everyday.

    Thank you,
    Carlos

  168. Great handwritten letter, I really enjoyed reading it much more than a typed letter. My favorite personal development book right now is “Money, and the Law of Attraction” by Esther and Jerry Hicks

  169. While I like Think and Grow Rich, I recently decided to get back to basics and discovered Hill’s first work, The Law of Success. I’m working through this book and love the idea that I’m getting all the original lessons as he meant them to be read.

  170. Ann, I loved reading your handwritten note. I have to show my sister bc she’s always complaining that the art is lost. Not so!

While Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich was very influential in my personal and business development, I am currently reading a book, “Spent”, by Geoffrey Miller which I can highly recommend for anyone and particularly marketers. It’s not only great information about the psychology of consumers, it’s funny, too.

Back to the holiday. Enjoy yours!

  171. Ann, what a beautiful letter, and I loved reading your handwriting. It makes such a big difference seeing handwriting again!

My favorite personal development book right now, is “Money and the Law of Attraction Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness” bye Esther and Jerry Hicks The Teachings of Abraham.

Hope everyone’s having a wonderful Father’s Day. I live “down under” and for some reason, we celebrate Father’s Day in September.

  172. Thanks for the inspiration, the plow is still in the ground. :-) I would agree with a lot of the comments made thus far. I really like reading Proverbs from the Bible because of the wisdom that it shares. The Power of Your Subconscious Mind was a very interesting read for me also.

  173. Åse Pettersen says:

    Dear Ann !
What a nice story ! Just in time for me to get me inspired again. I am thinking on Renegade all the time I`m working – this is a time for so many different works to do after the winter.
My favorite book is ” dont care about the trifles ” by Richard Carlson. Its much about living NOW – I am not the best to that , but every time I feel overwhelmed – I try to think about it. I love your guidance – but am far behind the plan.

  174. Hi Ann,
Thank you for your heartfelt letter. I was able to experience deep renewal in body/mind, soul, and spirit as a result. Tears came streaming down and I was brought to a place of hope and determination. Most of all I felt connection to our global community as well. As teachers and coaches we sometimes forget how our presence affects people. I hope you are able to take a moment to ‘breathe’ this in.

My favorite books in the inspiration/business area are:
The Instant Millionare – Mark Fisher
A simple story that raises powerful questions for self-inquiry.
The Energy of Money – Maria Nemeth
Tools to build a powerful new relationship with money. This book will help you find clarity to face fears about money so you can move forward to create financial freedom.

    Take care,
    Judith Costa
P.S. I am going to open my Twitter. Talk to you on the chat.

  175. Hello Ann,

Thank you for your on time encouragement. You have been an inspiration. My favorite self-development book is “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki

  176. Hi Ann,
Very powerful message and a personalized letter shows more attachment and emotion to a reader.
I don’t have yet self help or motivational books but i’m very positive person and optimistic and i promised my self to buy 1 book each month of those kind of books that will energize and motivate me more. Thank you and looking forward and i appreciate your kind assistance and support.

BTW: i do have only are those free ebooks (in very tight budget) and so far i like more of your attraction marketing manifesto

  177. Renita Lowry says:

Ann, it is so thoughtful of you to think about “us” on a holiday!
Thank you for your letter. I had to chuckle at the spin on the “three foot rule”( any one in an MLM will know what I mean!). And… I love the definition that failures are important because they tell you what doesn’t work.

I’ve enjoyed reading what others have recommeded for reading. I’m going to add some older ones that really helped me. I had terrible self talk and it literally flipped from “you can’t do anything right” to “you can do it”…I became my own cheerleading section and it has helped a great deal. These were some of the books I read:
The Psychology of Winning (Denis Waitley)
Healing the Shame That Binds You (John Bradshaw…and other titles by him)
Stop You’re Driving Me Crazy ( Dr. George R Bach & Ronald M Deutsch)
    Awakening in Time (Jacquelyn Small)
The Road Less Traveled and Beyond (M. Scott Peck)
Gift From the Sea (Anne Morrow Lindbergh)
All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten (Robert Fulghum)
The Art of Selfishness (David Seabury)
Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway (Susan Jeffers,Ph.D.)
Six hinking Hats (Edward De Bono…this is an approach to problem solving recommended to me many years ago by a businessman)

    Take good care everyone!!

  178. Great compilation of inspiring books are now listed here Ann.

My daily [almost!] reference is to Paul Hana’s “You Can Do It” – essential practical and inspirational messages.

  179. One of my favorites is Harvey McKay’s,Swimming with Sharks Without Getting Eaten, because of his easy writing styld and practical comments.

  180. I really appreciate you. Of all the days, this was the perfect one to send such an enlightening message. The fact that it was handwritten made it even more special. I was stiing here thinking what could I do differently to attract more like minded people. I was at a lost. I was not going to give up but I was struggling. This message in your letter was HOPE. I must stay focused!
My favorit part was that “failure” and “setbacks” are not actually failures! They’re simply a necessary step in the process of figuring out what works and what doesn’t.
That is so simple but people MUST hear it to know. Just get a different prospective and you will find a way. Again, thanks for taking the time to show us the way.

  181. Oh yea, I enjoyed your letter so much I almost forgot to say which boo is my favorite. It would have to be Think and grow rich by Napolean Hill

  182. Sharon Cramer says:

    Hi Ann,

Fantastic story and thank you for reminding us, that we should never give up. One book that
illustrates this is Failing Forward by John Maxwell. It is our strong desire and not quitting when our business is not going as well as we wished. Take a step back, and see what needs to change and go forward.
    Sharon Cramer June 21st @ 8:15 pm

  183. One of my favorite books is entitled, Excuse Me, Your LIFE Is WAITING, the astonishing power of feelings and The Law of Attraction by Lynn Grabhorn. Second is The Success Principles, How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be, by Jack Canfield, cocreator of Chicken Soup for the Soul. Third, 100 Ways To Motivate Yourself, Change Your Life Forever, by Steve Chandler. The 100th motivator was to Buy Yourself Flowers. “Buy yourself flowers that look especially beautiful to you. Put them in your working space, where you’ll see them easily. Every time you look at them, let them remind you of how colorful your future is going to be, how fresh your thoughts are, how easy it is for you to honor yourself, how much power you have to make your environment beautiful…and how sweet the smell of the universe can be.
Isn’t life beautiful. I hope you buy yourself some flowers today. I did immediately after I read this.

  184. My favorites include:
    Saul Alinsky: ‘Rules for Radicals’
    J. Conrad Levinson: ‘Guerrilla Marketing’
Harvey Mackay: ‘Swim With the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive’
Stuart Rose: Achieving Excellence in Your Design Practice’
    E. F. Schumacher: ‘Good Work’

Incidentally, here in Australia, Fathers Day is the first Sunday in September (as our three children never fail to remind me.)

  185. My all time favorite has to be The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson.

  186. Ann, I have gotten so much inspiration from following you for the last two weeks. I, like most of the others enjoyed “Think and Grow Rich”,
but the two books that kept me going when I was going through my darkest days, was Norman Vincent Peale’s, “The Power of Positive Thinking” and “Stay Alive as Long as You Live”.

I have always been on the verge of “making it”, but at 71, I am still working on it. I have gotten so worked up over Renegade Professional, that I KNOW that you and Mike will get me over the TOP!

    Thanks, Jack

  187. Thank You for the letter.
My Favorite book is The Secret,Think and grow rich. Thank you for all your help.
    Thresa

  188. Corinne Floyd says:

Ann,Happy Father’s Day to You and Your Family

I needed the encouragement from your letter because I am learning, studying, building, and “Digging” and currently standing still with money going out and not coming in.
I am reading Think and Grow Rich. I also recommend Riches Within Your Reach by Robert Collier, The Power of the Subconcious Mind by Joseph Murphy, Real Magic by Wayne Dyer and The Science of Getting Rich my Wallace Wattles.

  189. Ann:

Thanks for your message on Father’s Day!! I have been in the insurance business for 32 years and have read countless books on self-help, motivation, time management, etc., but I would have to say the #1 best seller is still the Bible. One of the previous comments mentioned the “man in the mirror”. I was a Dale Carnegie graduate assistant for “Effective Speaking and Human Relations” years ago, and I remember our Instuctor always closed the 14 week course with the “man in the mirror” poem. It is a very powerful poem, but I don’t know who wrote it.

  190. Ithank you for all the efforts that have been made to a perfect way of making a difference. The book I am looking into is FINISHING STRONG

  191. Hi Ann,
Thank you for that excerpt from T&GR, it’s my favorite one!Next to T&GR, Ann, I’m torn by three which are The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson, The Richest Man in Babylon by George Clayson and lastly, The Game of Life and How To Play It by Florence Shinn.
    Larry

  192. Great letter. Short and very to the point.

My pick for a good book would be Jack Canfield’s The Sucess Principles. It made me dig into my principles that lead to my sucess.

  193. Hi Ann,
Thank you for writing such an encouraging letter. From one of the “Renegades” that has been chugging through the 90 Day Action Plan your positive message could not have come at a better time! Here’s an inspirational book that has not been mentioned, “The Not So Big Life” by architect/author Sarah Susanka. Architectural metaphors are used to encourage readers to “remodel their lives”. The author is a renegade in the design world. She emphasizes small daily changes that will eliminate old habits and “open our minds as if we were opening windows to let in fresh air”. All the best to you and yours.

  194. Ann,

Hope I’m one of the first 1000 to sign up tomorrow. My book choice is Robert Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad Poor Dad”. That book, and many of his follow ups exposed me things I’d never heard about before. This stuff is just not taught any where, you have to go find it.

P.S. I’m really glad I stumbled on to Terri Ebel.
Without that stroke of luck I wouldn’t have come across the wealth of knowledge you share with your group.

  195. Ann, I am a big believer in Marcus Buckingham”s Now Discover Your Strengths. Makes sense that we should focus on our our best abilities rather than spending so much time trying to shore up our weaknesses.

  196. Lawrence Edwards says:

Hi Ann:Thank you for the Encouragement.Ienjoyed the Handwritten, letter, thats shows you really do care. Also I know it rally comes from your Heart.Thank You Comment by Lawrence -June 21,2009 @10:45

  197. Hi Ann
Thanks for sharing this personal letter!

I have a few favorites the secret by Rhonda Byrne in her book Bob Proctor -If you see it in your mind, you’re going to hold it in your hand.

My Grand father is no longer with us But he use to say to me You can travial anywhere in a book.

I also love the book Rich dad Poor dad
and the Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
I would like to share this
    The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in the yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other,as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Becouse it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for the passing there
    Had wornthemreally about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads onto way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence; Two roads diverged in the wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made the difference.
    Robert Frost (1916)

That decision has help me shap my life

and the last book that I love is why do I feel the way I do . By Fred & Florence Littauer
Some of the thing that helped
Be honest. When you hide the truth, you handicap the helper.
Don’t try to impress.the individual helping you he or she will soon know who you really are, not who you’d like to be.

    Thanks Ann
    Teresa Brown

  198. Hi Ann My favourite book is snap!, the same as your one,Think and Grow Rich, which I had chosen before reading your hand-written letter(thank you by the way).
I stumbled upon you website over the weekend and purchased your ebook which I have been reading.
I could/can relate to much,if not all you have said.I still have some doubts as MLM has not worked for me to this point.
    Sincerely Chris
p.s will open a Twitter account and would like to talk some time to you

  199. My favourite is Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich- and Jack Canfield The Success Principles. There are lots of good ones!

  200. C-L Holt says:

T.Harv Eker’s “Think Rich to Get Rich” is my favorite resource.

  201. Jean Neese says:

Just returned home from a long weekend to find your letter—just when I needed your “pep talk”

I have read several of the mentioned authors–Robert Kiyosaki, John Maxwell, Og Mandino—but the one book that has not been mentioned is one that I and a few very good friends of mine have been studying for over two years now. We get together every Thurs evening and discuss 177 MENTAL TOUGHNESS SECRETS OF THE WORLD CLASS by Stgeve Siebold. In fact, we liked it so much after going through it chapter by chapter for 177 weeks that when we finished, we decided to go through it again! ! ! Most of those in the group have never personally met, but I can say that we really are good friends.(We are from Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma, etc.) and after discussing together after all these months, we know and support each other as if we are one big family.

  202. Ann, I love your handwritten-pdf work. It’s inspiring. It reminded me of the importance of not quitting until I really reach success.

  203. Hi Ann,

That was a great idea to write a personal letter and send it out the way you did. Innovative!

The story you tell is one of my favorites actually and one that I like telling to people. It is one of the stories from “Think and Grow Rich” that sticks out in my mind foremost, although there are many great examples in the book. I immediately knew you were referring to the “Three Feet from Gold” story.

I have been so busy lately. From one seed has sprouted about ten (10) other fantastic ideas. I know they are fantastic because I thought of them and they are absolutely winners (I’m not being modest today, it’s Father’s Day!).

One of my ideas is for a new website for which I researched and researched and found none like it. I remember reading somewhere if you search for something online and can’t find it, it’s time to be the one to capitalize on it!

During our date night (Friday night my wife and I went out for dinner) I explained what I had discovered and asked my wife to be a part of it. She has been seeing me toil for months and she knows what I want to do and it requires work, work, work, and planning. I want her to be a part of this and to feel the excitement that goes along with it. Besides, she’s a fantastic writer.

She liked the idea so I will start this website this week through SBI. I know it will take about 6 months to a year for it become popular, maybe sooner. We’ll see.

One thing I want to say Ann, is that most people underestimate the power of the books that we read. I’ve heard people say that they don’t need motivation, “I’m a motivated person, I don’t need a book.” But they are missing the point.

I have read many books and I’m sure we have books in common, and I have so many more I want to read, and I’m constantly reading. I can’t tell how much they contribute to a person’s breakthrough. You can’t read “Think and Grow Rich” once and say “Wow! I’ve got!”

I believe it takes a lot more then one book for a true breakthrough.

    Read.

    Read.

    Read.

There’s nothing that can intimidate me. It is because of this belief in myself and the understanding of the essence of success and what it takes to achieve it, that can take a person through the toughest of times without ever thinking of quitting.

Lessons. Failures only equal lessons. Keep on going. If success and attaining wealth was so easy then everyone would be successful and wealthy.

Like you mentioned in your letter, it’s easier to quit and give up. People give up on themselves. It’s a shame. They’ll never really know what they’re made of.

    Wishing you all Success,

    Paul

  204. Kerry Mitchell says:

Hi Ann. Your note, (nice touch!), really hit home! I know that you do not have to go “above and beyond”, but you do, and it is what sets you and the Renegade Team apart.
From being in RNM and Renegade U., I know that Renegade Pro is the community that will help me grow. I’m really looking forward to the opening tomorrow!
One of my favorite Pers. dev. books is The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz, Ph.D.
Thanks again for all that you do.

    Kerry

  205. Thank You for the letter.
My Favorite book is The Secret. Thank you for all your help.

  206. Dennis Hughes says:

    Thanks Ann,

It’s a great story to teach that when you reach an impasse, instead of quitting, learn as much as you can to overcome.

I haven’t seen my favorite book listed yet. It’s ‘Success is not an accident’ by Tommy Newberry. This book is the best goals book I have every read.

    Thanks Again,
    Dennis Hughes

  207. Francine says:

Thanks Ann – I need to revisit Think and Grow Rich… it’s been years – but the top of my list now is Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker….and all of his workshops. Success is not an Accident by Tommy Newberry is right there too -I believe success at anything is 90% mental and 10% know how… mindset is so important and the bigger the setback the bigger the reward on the other side! Please read The Travelers Gift by Andy Andrews too… life changing.

  208. Hi Ann,

I loved the letter, especially “the old-fashioned” way of communicating. It was great timing for me since I was feeling a little down about not succeeding yet. But after reading your letter I know it’s not a matter of if, but when.

  209. tamara clausen says:

    WOW.
I think I have to enroll in a “speed reading course” to be able to read all these great sounding books!
Love the letter. I still write letters when I appreciate or want thank someone for going above and beyond. Love “old school”.
I so appreciate all you and Mike are teaching us.
What an impact you both make on so many lives!
I love inspirational books and tapes.
Of course Napoleon Hill’s books and recently all of Anthony Robbins books and tapes as I have to drive a lot and love listening to books on cds.
Thank you both for all that you do and for leading us to success.
    Thank you,
    Tamara

  210. These four are my all time favorites:

    1.) “The Slight Edge”
    2.) “The Go Giver”
3.) “How to Win Friends and Influence People”
    4.) “Who Moved My Cheese?”

  211. Ann,
Thank you for the inspiring letter. One of my favorite books that I was introduced to a while back is called “The Strangest Secret in the World” by Og Mandino. One of his scrolls in this book is: “I will persist until I succeed.” That phrase has taken deep root in my spirit and I know that I will never give up on having an extremely successful home-based business. Thank you for your inspirational letter and I look forward to being a part of Renegade Professional as soon as it is open.
    Richie

  212. Hi Ann,
I always always read your mail thru…to the end.
I was impressed by your handwritten letter and
though I had heard that story before…..the message in it was not lost to me…..in fact it touched me well as I have been facing the same situation as given by you.I have so many friends ….a huge list of 300 odd who are personally known to me….but try selling to them and they clam up. I need to spread my wings and take my chances with folks I don’t know…but who may be interested in my product. I need to find “what will work for me”. I started out being technically challenged as I am presently over 50 and the net generation was not “my generation”…..but I am amazed at how much I have picked up as I simply love learning and find myself akin to a duck taking to the water for the first time.
I wanted to tell you that your mails are truly good and the best compliment I can give you is
whenever there is a gap…..something must fill it…just as you have done.

  213. The very first book that I ever read in the self help genre was “Think and Grow Rich” and it had a life changing impact. My next book was “How to Win Friends and Influence People” which lead me to becoming a Dale Carnegie Instructor for several years. I have read many other books and authors in the last 30+ years but the first ones are a favorite because of the dramatic impact they had on my life.

  214. Dorothy Hinton says:

Hi Ann, Thank You for the great story. I certainly can relate. I keep referring back to Rich Dad Poor Dad and several other’s of Robert Kiyosaki’s books. I also like “The Richest Man in Babylon”, by George Clason is also very good. Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’ is also been very informative.
I love your work Ann and Thank You So Much.

  215. Hi Ann,

Another great inspiring ‘letter’ from you. Thank-you so much for that. My intention is to inspire people all over the world just like you do and you are such a great leader in this field.

My favourite all-time book is ‘The Wisdom Of Florence Scovel Shinn’ Florence Scovel Shinn is from the early 1900’s and the book teaches the power of ‘word’. She explains that when asking for (or affirming) what you require in the ‘perfect way’, you will receive all that you ask for in the perfect way. But if you just ask for it, it will appear, but not necessarily in the perfect way.

A very powerful book…it definitely brought you into my life when I needed you the most! :-)

    Kind Regards…Tania Gaylor

  216. A very thought provoking letter, thank you Ann.
I have printed it off so that I can be reminded every now and then when things seem a bit overwhelming.
There are many favorite books for self development and some are above but … How to be Wildly Wealthy Fast by Sandy Forster and The Secret and then of course The Renegade Network Marketer all have to be there.

  217. Ann I love that Goldmine story. When ever things don’t go so easy I remember the scene from the movie “the secret” where the grass is just about to break through the dirt and see the sunlight for the first time.
It’s like giving birth, just when you think you absolutely can’t anymore, the baby gets born.
Well in birthing there is no way out.
In business, like you said most people give up right at the point when things feel like they are impossible to bear.
But that is exactly the point where the “baby” gets born. Yeah for women who went through the initiation of birth, we can guide others and ourselves from an experiencial level through these rites of passage.
We as women often think we aren’t as skilled in business as man, but even though birthing and running a household seem to have nothing to do with business at first glance, these are skills and experiences that can put as light years ahead if we are willing to see them as assets.
(Sorry guys don’t mean to step on your toes but from my experience you guys are a little bit more confident when it comes to Business, that’s why I am encouraging the ladies here).

As for my favorite book. Tough choice because I love, love, love books and learn so much through them. I have read nothing but self development books since I was 13 ( can you imagine?) Well I read “the Da Vinci Code” but that’s it.

The most profound change in my life occurred after reading “Conversations with God” by N.D. Walsh.

I manifested my husband by going through “Calling in the one” by C. Woodward Thomas.

I got the most comfort from “A return to love” by M. Williamson.

But the book I come back to most often and therefor wins favorite status is “A course in miracles”.

Thank’s for reminding me of it! I will pick it up tonight and read in it! Perfect!

    Life is Good!

(My “baby” turned three today, that’s probably why the whole birthing stuff is on my mind)

    Have a great re-opening!

    Carolin

  218. Mike Eccleston says:

Thankyou so much for the story Ann
I think thats where i’m right now ,only three feet away and it seems like miles but i’m striving on
    Mike Eccleston

  219. I always love a reminder that just when you feel like quitting is when you shouldn’t.

One of my favorite books is “Never Eat Alone” by Keith Ferrazzi.

    Savor life’s best,
    Aimee

  220. Kathy Brown says:

Love the handwritten letter. I’m just two feet away and closing now!
A great book: Maximum Achievement by Brian Tracy

  221. Hello An:; It is refreshing to be sent a personal letter these days. Thanks for slowing down enough to do it. I appreciate your leadership in action!

A favorite business- minded resource for me, which also works well in in my personal life, is: Steven Covey’s : Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I find myself needing to review this resource, as I can always improve in my communication skills with others in particular- especially in my family. Often challenges in my personal life have drained my energy and vitality which I need to be expending in serving others and going about my business. Thoughtful and skillful communication strategies can divert so much tension and conflict, as well as can help to effectively resolve conflicts when they do arise. Steven Covey helps people to stay positive and effective in relationships. Enjoy!

  222. Just downloaded your letter and looking forward to reading it. The first self-development book I read, and still one of my favorites, is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. It’s a classic and well worth reading again.

  223. Lori Miller says:

***Oh no, I missed the call…… was it taped? I just joined twitter so I could be there and had a challenge. Please email me at newproduct2004@hotmail.com if you taped and/or took great notes.

As for books, wow where to start? Think and Grow Rich for sure. Carnegie’s “How to Make Friends and Influence People” is one of my absolute favorites.

I’d like to hear more as I’m just starting to learn about Ann and internet social marketing. Any tips for twitter would be great too.

    Thank you
    Lori

  224. Yvon-Pierre says:

My all-time favorite book to find inspiration and guidance is the Bible and lately especially the book of Proverbs, after reading “The Richest Man Who Ever Lived” written by Steven K. Scott.

  225. Thank you Ann,
Great story as a former teacher you showing as CLASS! Super class. I’m enjoing. You was asking about book. I’m reading Joseph Murphy The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. English my second language and I’m shy to post on blogs. You are first and inspire me so much!

  226. Hi Ann,

Thanks for the heartfelt letter. The most memorable book I’ve read was The Renegade Network Marketer. I read it when I was contemplating on giving up on my online business. I was working my business when your lead capture page popped up. (Go figure) When I read The Renegade it was as though you were in the room with me. . . hearing my thoughts. It was as if you wrote the book for me and I would like to personally thank you for sending me in the right direction.

Thanking you in advance for all your future help, Vanessa

P.S. I am also a Home Schooler for At Risk Children. . .

  227. Mario Arreola says:

    Ann,
Nice job, thanks I enjoyed it.
As for the book: “Change your thougths, Change your life” from Dr. Wayne Dyer.
    Regards
    Mario

  228. Hi Ann
Thanks for the post, and putting it all in perspective,
The Dreamer Giver , by Bruce Wilkinson is worth a read
    Have a great week

  229. Kaleem Ullah Baig says:

    Hello Ann,
Your work is totally awesome..By-GOD`s will hard workers like u will prosper.
    My-All-TIME favorite books are,
    1)The Al-chemist
2)How To Read A Person Like A Book
    3)The Desert Crop

    Respect, Peace VV

  230. Tom Roach says:

    Thank you Ann!
I know that sometimes when we are intrenched in our day to day duties frustrations set in and we may forget those valuable lessons…failures are only a process to which we learn how NOT to repeat the same mistake. To quote Thomas Edison “I learned 10,000 ways not to make a light bulb” We just get that much wiser from the experience.

Napoleon Hill’s “Think & Grow Rich” will always be a classic for me and the second best is Wallace Wattle’s “The Science of Getting Rich”

    Tom Roach

  231. Rel Rogers says:

Thank you Ann for your ‘handwritten letter’… which I found refreshing AND had a message that I really needed to hear :)

My favorite self-development book of all time is ‘Winning Through Enlightenment’ by Ron Smothermon with ‘Think & Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill, ‘Secrets of the Millionaire Mind’ by T Harv Eker and ‘The Greatest Networker’ by John Fogg right up there with it.

  232. George Yavordios says:

Dear Ann, I was really surprised (in a good way) of your handwritten letter.
I totally agree with what you say…!!!

My favorite book is Skip Ross’s “Say YES to your potential”
I’ve read it both in Greek and in English and it never seizes to amaze me…!!!

    Wishing you all the best.

    George

  233. Ann,

My top 3 books are: 1. Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill 2. Rich Dad, Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki 3. See You At The Top – Zig Ziglar.

  234. When I first read, Think and Grow Rich, it was a life changing relief. I was born into a family who did not believe in anything you could not see… and certainly we were not raised to believe in ourselves, let alone any idea bigger than we were. Yet, from a young age I dreamed and believed that I could do anything–but it was like being a rebel to think such a way and I didn’t have any proof that my faith oriented desires to make a difference and accomplish things way outside the box were valid.

I remember the ‘3 feet from gold’ story vividly and I have no doubt it had a big impact on me, carrying me forward until I really did find my gold. What’s interesting is that I actually lost it and then found it again, just like many of the stories in the book discuss. The 2nd time around was easier and sweeter and built to last.

All I can say is that if you think life is difficult, it’s that way whether you go for the gold or settle for less. It will only get better if you keep going and growing… it can only get worse if you don’t.

If you think life is great regardless, it can only be greater when you live your dreams.

So… why live any other way but to keep growing, developing and creating a better life for yourself and those around you.

Let it become a habit so there can be no other way.

    -Mike

  235. Carol Howden says:

Ivfound the most valuable book I have read was the Cashflow Quadrant by Robert T Kiyosaki. It completely changed my thinking on business and working for money.

  236. To choose a favorite work would be nearly impossible. There are so many fabulous works available. Some of my favorites include:

The Success Principles – Jack Canfield
    The Answer – John Assaraf
Happy for No Reason – Marci Shimoff
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind – T. Harv Eker
7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen Covey

and, although not a book, a great CD series is:

The Science of Success – James Arthur Ray

Thanks for putting together this terrific resource. I’m certain I’ll refer back to it to find new favorites.

  240. Thanks Ann–the story reminded me of a little book I read many years ago, “Acre’s of Diamonds”. It was great thanks. One of my favorite books was Zig Ziglar’s “Peak Performance. Thanks Mary

  241. Hi Ann,
You always have some great advice and new, cutting edge, creative marketing ideas.

My 3 Favorite Motivational Books are:

See You at the Top – Zig Ziglar:
If you haven’t taken a check up from the neck up, this book is a must read. I like listening to Ziggler’s audio’s even better. Born to Be A Winner is another great one from Ziglar.

    Currently included:
The 4-Hour Work Week – Timothy Ferris
This book can be a great lifestyle coach for those stuck in the typical 9-5 job and mindset. I fully beleive in “mini-retirements”, and have had the opportunity to live the lifestyle for the past 7 years. I still work (a lot) more than 4 hours per week and I am certainly not rich, but the freedom and life experience the flexibility of working from home has given my is invaluable. You could not pay me enough to take another day job. I was living this lifestyle long before I read this book, but it was still an enjoyable read.

and the top motivational / lifestyle book of all time – The Bible.

    Keep up the good work!

  242. Don Hamilton says:

Great letter Ann. Thank you for writing it along with your other valuable insights. My favourite self development book is ‘Way Of The Peaceful Warrior’ by Dan Millman. A fabulous story full of spiritual inspirations. My favourite business related book would probably be ‘The Greatest Networker In The World.’It was what got me interested in Network Marketing.
I am Australian and here we have a ‘u’ in ‘favourite’ LOL

  243. Since so many people have already said Think and Grow Rich, I will say The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. After reading this book Rhonda Byrne was inspired to create The Secret.

  244. Jennifer T says:

I really enjoyed your “handwritten letter” but did find it very strange that it just ended……no sign off……nothing….not even your name. I will keep digging!

  245. Ann,

I want you to know how much I appreciate your “personal touch” in hand writing a letter to so many people. Thank God that the internet and all things that go along with it exist and are alive and moving strong.

How interesting that you should include in your letter the story about Darby’s gold mine experience. This story made quite an engraved mark in the seams of my own grey matter, and has been the very story that I think about quite a bit.

Darby gave up when the gold was just 3 feet away. I think I chould feel his heart sink when he realized what had happened. As I recall, he learned from his experience and never let it happen again.

There are three books that I found interesting: “Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting”, The Power of the Subconcious Mind”, and “Think and Grow Rich”. The latter made a greater impression on me than the others, so of course it is at the top of my list at the moment.

A big Thank You to both You and Mike Klingler for all that you do. And for paving the way for those who come behind you.

  246. Daniel de Waal says:

Hi Ann. thanks for an inspiring letter. I must confess that I am one of those for whom the penny has not quite dropped, but I am not going to give up. The education via Renegade Pro is top notch, but for a part timer like me, more that 90 days will be neccessary.

Hill’s book is great, but on par with it(and here I agree with Paul Camarinha) I suggest ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’ by David Schwartz. For just plain personal inspiration I suggest ‘Piano on the Beach’ by Jim Dornan.

    Thanks again, Ann. Great idea.

    Thanks and bless you

  247. Hi Ann,

A fantastic, yet quick & simple little guide on this subject is; ‘Notes From A Friend’from Anthony Robbins. Anyone struggling with overload and overwhealm – like me – should take a look. In fact I think I need to right now!

  248. Cindy Murphy says:

    Hi Ann,

Thanks for sharing this letter and for all you do. I can’t wait to hear from you later in the week.

Here are some of my favorite resources.

    1. Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
    2. Rich Dad, Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki
    3. All of the Renegade series including the Network Marketer and Renegade pro. Although a lot of it is step by step training, I have learned so much.

  249. Hi Ann,

thanks for yet another inspirational input!

My list of self-development books is looooong, so I have decided to mention two of my most recent reads:
BUSTING LOOSE FROM THE MONEY GAME by Robert Scheinfeld (a truly interesting angle on mindset & money, and how it may just be a game we are playing….)
THE WORLD IS FLAT by Thomas Friedman (a MUST read for everyone who is slightly interested in how we are all a part of a bigger (global) business picture)

    Enjoy! ;o)

  250. Wow so Many great books and comments here Ann thanks for your handwritten letter to its great!
for me l would say Dale Carnegies :- How to win friends how to influence people, my all time favourite

  251. Ann,

There’s something about a hand-written letter that shows that the person who wrote it really cares. Thanks for putting together the letter.

One of my favorite personal development books is: “Launching a Leadership Revolution; Mastering the Five Levels of Influence” by Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward. It takes all the great leadership principles that have been scattered about over the past several years and ties them all together in this book. I especially enjoy the historical examples at the end of each chapter. Application of the main principle in each chapter is illustrated through the life of a great leader, such as Winston Churchill, William Wilberforce, Mel Fisher, Theodore Roosevelt, and others.

    Thanks,
    Sam Kitchin

  252. Thank you for this Ann,
It was similar inspiration in your “Renegade Network Marketer” that gave me the impetus to ‘keep going’, push through the overwhelm and develop my own successful internet marketing business.
I would like to add “The Traveller’s Gift” by Andy Andrews to your book list. It is always a ‘decision’ that changes our lives (in good and bad ways) and in learning that I had ultimate control of my life decisions I looked at ‘challenges’ in a different way.

“I will not let my History control my Destiny”.

    Hugs and Energy – Zoe

  253. Hi Ann,
I just want to say thanks for taking the time to write the letter,it sure means alot to know that you are also human and brings people down to perspective.
I don’t read as much as I should but I do from time to time.2 books come to mind which are The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, also Soar If You Dare…by James R.Ball
I enjoy listening to speakers such as Jim Rohn,Wayne Dyer and Zig Ziglar and several others, too many to mention.
So in closing I say again Thank You for your time and inspiration that you have given…Rich

  254. Scott Horine says:

    Hi Ann
Thanks for the eccouragement thats just what I needed, I also like Think and Grow Rick, I also like the boork The Science of Getting Rich by Wallice D. Wattles
    Thanks again Scott

  255. Hi Ann, Thanks for the inspiring story. My favorite self-development book so far is How to Win Friends and Influence People. Chandra

  256. Greetings Ann

Thank you for your encouraging hand written letter. I have saved it on my desktop, so I can read it again when I need to!

My most treasured and favourite self-development book is most certainly the Bible.

Another book I have found quite good is “The Go-Giver”, by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It highlights the principle of genuine giving to others as the ethical way to receive blessing in return.

    Regards, Mark.

  257. Hi Ann,

Thank you for reminding me what incredible opportunitiy we have nowadays by using the technology llike e-mail, websites, etc.

My favourite book is by Robert Kiyosaki, Business School – For People Who Like Helping People

Written by a “Not Networker” for Networkers

    Greetings from Austria
    Hans

  258. Thomas Chinga Njenga says:

    Hi Ann
I’m very grateful about you!Thank you for your good letter that has a vision!Think and grow rich by Napolean hill gives me strength and encourage to face any problem in the world! Please Ann continue to bring light to the lives of people in the world!you and renegade professional family are amazing and wonderful! I will walk with you Ann all the times

    Yours truly
    Thomas.

  259. Hi Ann,
My favorite book is the Bible. This is still the best selling book of all time and the content is just as applicable in today’s world as it was in the Old Testament and New Testament times. I also enjoy Jim Rohn and Peter Daniel’s books.

  260. Alexey Gong says:

    Hi Ann,
It is very inspiring to read your letter.
I do have a copy of Think & Grow Rich on my bed side table. I read a few pages whenever I can. Being a father of 3 kids under the age of 6 years old is challenging and yet have to rush to full time job 6 days a week. There is not one single day that I don’t think about when I can retire from the rat race and spend more time with the loved ones. I have being doing Network marketing using the traditional way for almost 3 years. It is very tough & slow, I feel very frustrated. Internet has revolutionised the way of business is done on the net, i do have a strong feeling that it can help me in generating prospects and take my business to the next level, but i don’t know how it can be done. I have read most of your Renegade books, it definitely appears too advanced for me.

    Alexey GONG from Sydney Australia

  261. this is so true. I became a network junkie. tried almost everything. My wife told me that I was waisting my time and money. no i said just finding out what does not work.

  262. Ian Brown says:

    Ann
Great story, I have heard that before, however your expansion upon it and your observations and prompts made it all that more uplifting this time. Thank you. As regards business mindset books, a few come to mind, however, I think my favourite is Secrets of a Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker. Thanks for your work for all of us.

  263. Myron Haluschak says:

    Hello Ann:
I really enjoyed reading the email you sent, and the subsequent hand written story.
It was the true converstaional tone of the email that really connected with me.
The hand written letter is one I’ll certainly save, and enjoy, since it has been a long time that I have taken a moment to reflect…something I used to do often.
I have chosen two books, the first, is titled Way of the Peaceful Warrior, by Dan Millman. This book has changed my life.
The second, Where Have All The Leaders Gone? written by Lee Iococca, is not only inspiring, but talks about what we really need most these days, yet find so little of…leadership. He believes leaders are made in times of crisis. We certainly are there now. And with his no-nonsense manner, it makes this a provocative and inspiring read.
Thank you, and Mike for all the ongoing support, continuous improvement, and creating a level playing field for those of us not quite there, but on our way.
    Myron Haluschak

  264. Ann,
Thank you for taking the time to connect with all of us. That is one of the things that make you a cut above the rest.

At the moment, my favorite self-development book is Ask and It Is Given from the teachings of Abraham (Esther and Jerry Hicks). I like it because it goes beyond the usual surface-scratching information on the Law of Attraction. I also have the companion tapes, which are both fascinating and inspiring. I listen to them anytime I am in the car by myself so that I can really focus on the material.

One thing that I would like to mention about the Renegade Professional is that even though it can seem overwhelming at first because of the wealth of information, the steps are easy and doable. I have found that getting up earlier in the morning gives me time to go through a tutorial or two with enough time leftover to create some content based on what I learned. As a result, my content is not only improving, but it is being found more and more by people who really need my help. Also, I have plenty of time during the day to focus on what is most important–my husband and children.

Thanks again for all you do!

    Rana

  265. This is a unique form of eBook.

I remind myself time and time again not to lose faith in what I want to achieve. And people that you have mentioned in your letter are some of the people that I have known that give me inspiration to believe in the ‘process’.

For me, the underlying fuel that makes me keep pushing forward is my faith. From my experience, it is ok to fail but it is not to concede to defeat. Failure is temporary, defeat is a definite stop.

  266. Yuri Lee says:

    Hi Anne.

Your story is indeed reassuring and encouraging. Thanks for sharing it. I like the book Chicken Soup for the Soul and the still unpublished book of Robert Kiyosaki – Conspiracy of the Rich. yuri

  267. Thanks for the letter Ann. My favorite books to inspire me are books about real people who didn’t give up in the face of adversity, like the stories of Helen Keller, Amy Charmichael, and Gladys Alyward. They never gave up.

  268. Oh, BTW those are the title’s of the books. “The Small Woman” by Alan Burgess (also a movie called “The Inn of Sixth Happiness”, the other books are “Amy Charmichael” and “Helen Keller”.

  269. It is so sad to say that I have been in 4 MLM business opportunities in the past 20 years; loved all of the products and seen 2 of them fold while I was still involved with them. I absolutely love Monavie being involved 1 year and 6 months now, but I am afraid of success! Anxiety, change and other reasons, I keep stepping back wondering if it is all too good to be true. Loving and trusting in the product, I want to help everyone with their health issues and afraid to buy into another MLM trap… and move out of a secure job of 20 years. I need a boost and I am still so skeptical…it can’t be as hard as my job of 20 years! Help!!!

  270. Bruce Bennett says:

    Hi Ann,

Thank you for the Father’s day wishes and the same to you and yours.

Also, thank you for your letter. The message is one that is timely and resonates back to a time when I was first learning to do a back dive off of the diving board. I was about six years old and my swim coach thought that I could do double duty as a diver and swimmer for the team. I was pretty good at the simple forward dives, but now it was time to learn how to do the backward dives. Standing on the diving board, facing away from the water, I inched out on my toes and prepared to do my first back dive. Taking a deep breath I took a bounce and pushed off of the board. Unfortunately, I over rotated and landed flat on my face and stomach with a loud SMACK! The pain was almost immediate and as I pulled myself out of the pool, tears were streaming down my face. I decided that there would be no more back dives in my future.

That’s when my coach taught me a valuable lesson. He pulled me aside and spoke to me in a very soft, but firm, voice. Bruce, he said, I know that dive hurt you pretty bad. I also know that you can do it correctly, if you concentrate on the basics, and close out all of the distractions around you. Now I want you to get up on that diving board and do the dive the right way. Even though I objected mightly, I found myself back on the diving board. My face and torso were still bright red from my previously failed dive. Tears were still streaming down my face. I was scared! Then the words of my coach took over and I focused on the dive. As I stood there I visualized myself doing the perfect back dive, the noise around me disappeared. As I took my bounce off the board, I felt like I was moving in slow motion and I was in full control. I entered the water as straight as an arrow and this time I heard the ripping sound of a successful dive. When I surfaced the coach and the whole rest of the team were standing on the side of the pool applauding wildly. I was pulled out of the pool and the first person to address me was the coach. Looking me right in the eyes, he said, that was much better, I knew you could do it. Those words have stuck with me for my entire life. I am now 52 years old and I still recall them from time to time.

The point here is that you have within you much greater potential for greatness than you might believe. Sometimes, you just need a push in the right direction, and someone you believe in to tell you to try it again.

My favorite inspirational book is “I Dare You” by William H. Danforth.

    Thanks again Ann.

    Sincerely,

    Bruce A. Bennett

  271. Dear Ann,

Thanks for the handwritten letter. As a lot of others have said, it came at just the right moment for me.

My husband passed away a few years ago, so as you can imagine, Father’s Day can be kind of tough for us (I have 4 kids at home). I didn’t even check my email yesterday – just went to church and spent the day with the kids.

I’m struggling to make a living working from home, but I’m committed to being here for my children. No one around me seems to think I can make this work (looking at my results so far, I guess I can understand why), but as your story reminds me, I need to dig in my heels and keep moving forward. Just the inspiration I needed!

OK, on to my favorite book(s): I love Robert Kiyosaki’s “The Business School for People who Like Helping People”. I love that he gives some much-needed credibility to the network marketing industry.

I also love anything by John Maxwell. One of my favorites is “Becoming a Person of Influence” (probably because I see this as something I struggle with!). I think it’s also time for me to read “Think and Grow Rich”!

    Thanks for all your encouragement!

    Anne

  272. Hi Ann…..Thanks for the Fathers’ Day letter……a great read……My book has been around a very long time and still good for everybody to read…..How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie….its for the Ages…….

    Jim

  273. Thanks Ann!

I appreciate all that You do and all of your encouragement. Your letter was uplifting. :)

I feel more Peace when I go at my own pace.

I enjoy many of the books already mentioned. In recent years, I have been helped by The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, A Course In Miracles – Foundation for Inner Peace, and A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose
    by Eckhart Tolle.

In my opinion, We are our best when we are authentic and true to ourselves and serve our best.

    Warmest regards,
    Abby Elitzky-Kuin

  274. Thanks Ann for the nice letter. It’s extremely a powerful gesture to say to someone I’ve handwritten a note to you. If you hadn’t used this format I would have never read the email. If for nothing else it gives us all hope. I really believe in you and I believe the system would work for me however, there’s still somethings I don’t understand. Some of it seems like it’s too much for me to keep up with. I’m a retired Army veteran, former drill instructor who goes by the numbers. Maybe I just need to put attention. (smile) Randy

  275. Ann,

Thanks for the gold digging life lesson. The handwritten letter is a nice touch.

I think “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson is my favorite. His emphasis on the compounding effects of “easy things” when consistently applied was a real epiphany for me.

    Enjoying the ride,
    Bob

  276. I almost forgot. My favorite book to read is the Holy Quran, Bible, and most history books. However, Napoleon Hill Think and grow rich is a favorite as well.

  277. Denise Gore says:

I read the first 44 comments yesterday early and now comments number over 280 — wow! I read through looking for the books others suggested. Ann it would be a wonderful resource for everyone to put all the books suggested in a list of some sort.

The miner story is one I have heard or read before, yet it is something to re-read often. One quote I love is ‘ to reach beyond your grasp’ (cannot remember the author).

Here are several books to add to those above. I have read many of the ones already suggested. The first book that came to mind was Jack Canfield’s Success Principles – that Lisa Hanfileti already suggested. So here are a few more:
The Passion Test – Janet and Chris Attwood
Pushing the Envelope – Harvey MacKay
Now Discover Your Strengths – Marcus Buchingham
The Magic of Thinking Big – David Schwartz

There are many more I have read over the years. I also listen to tapes and CDs. Tom Peters, Anthony Robins, and Jim Rohm are some of the best.

One other person who influenced me early in my career was Mary Crowley who built Home Interiors and Gifts. Her books are no longer in print, but you may find them in a used book store. Two are “You Can Too” and “Women Who Win”.

And thanks to everyone on the renegade team. I learn from all of you as well.

  278. Hi Ann!
I enjoyed your letter, and commend you for the idea. You continue to inspire me, and I am beginning to learn a lot from RPro. My favorite self development book is: “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey. Thanks a lot for everything.

  279. Ann, I don’t know what I would do without you and your advice and encouragement. I will go back and read Napoleon Hill…”Think and Grow Rich” and I am a Stephen Covey fan as well – I have learned a lot from “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” Thank you to all of the people who left the names of their favorites…I have a brand new reading list.
Most important..thank you, Ann and Mike, for being such great mentors.
    Dorothy Green

  280. Robert Gorman says:

    Hi Ann,

Thanks for being “perceptive” enough to read my present circumstance! :) I have been pecking away at getting a lead capture page developed in order to build a list, and the mandatory everyday drains on my time and energy have made it a real challenge to get it done! Sometimes I feel like I’m going to miss the entire period of internet growth, and my new prosperous financial future along with it! It’s great to be reminded sometimes about other people who have “broken through” to their successes after periods of discouragement or “no results”.

One of my favorite books is “Happy Pocketful of Money” by David C Gikandi. It’s an inspiring look at how we create this journey we’re on, and how to do it better, as we go.

Many thanks to you for your books and your role in Renegade Professional!

    Robert Gorman

  281. Hi Ann–
Thank you for the letter. It was very timely for me and a great reminder. Hard work is still needed to succeed and anything worth having is worth working for.

There have been some great books listed. My favorite is the Bible. Self-development and stories to last a lifetime.

    Thanks for everything Ann.

  282. Hi Ann,

Just finished reading your lovely handwritten letter. And guess what? It was just what I needed to hear, because I get discouraged and want to quit. But now, I have a true story to remind me of what could happen to me if I should decide to quit. Success could be just around the corner. Thanks, Ann

The book that I chose is “The Sky’s the Limit”, by Dr. Wayne Dyer

  283. Hi Ann, Thanks for the handwritten letter, and reminding me once again when things get tough, I have to get tougher. Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich was my first read on personal development, and I always fall back on the “mining for gold” story when I feel like things aren’t working the way I want them to.

Think & Grow Rich is at the top of my list. I also like A Year In Growing Rich by him also. This book deals with the 12 Gateways of the body, and yes exercise of the body & mind are two or them.

  284. Hi Ann!
Thanks a lot for your letter, this is something we really need from time to time in those cold, unpersonal, digital times.
I also liked “Think and Grow Rich”.

  285. My favorite book for inspiration is the Ultimate Sales Letter

  286. Diane Engel says:

I appreciated your story. I have been feeling overwhelmed, but now I’m getting some help. I’m new to this and haven’t read too many books yet, but the Secret really started changing my thinking. Mind Capture is good, too.

  287. My favorite book about business is ‘Nehimiah’ in the Old Testament of the Bible. He created a plan, got some personal support, gained authorizations, appropriated supplies, gathered a workforce, expanded his plans altering as needed along the way, established protection for his project and the people, provided for rest during the work, got the whole thing done and everyone celebrated the victory! Too cool!

  288. Geri Bridges says:

My current inspirational book is by Jack Canfield: The Success Principles.

Thanks for your Father’s Day letter. Just what I needed!!! Geri B

  289. Norbert Hopkins says:

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell.

Living At The Next Level by B. Courtney McBath

  290. Norbert Hopkins says:

These are two very dynamic and encouraging books, almost must reads!

  291. Thanks for taking the time Ann to write this out for everyone. It is something that we need to be reminded about from time to time.

I read that story many years ago and it has made a difference for me when things don’t look like they are going as planed. In every case, the solutions came to me because I believed they were just around the corner. Belief is a major factor in one’s success.

I use this in my coaching business as well. Many who were about to give up the thought of building their businesses, gave it one more shot which took them over the top!

One book I highly recommend is “177 Mental Toughness Secrets Of The World Class” by Steve Siebold.

I refer back to this one many times over and over again because it keeps my belief just where it needs to be to have the success I want.

Thanks again for providing the kind of leadership that only comes from a World Class Leader such as yourself.

    Bob Andolina

  292. Hi Ann,
That was a great letter. It reminds me to keep moving and never give up.

I’d have to agree that Think & Grow Rich is one that is really inspriring.

  293. Hi Ann,
I’m with you on Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I’m currently going through it with a MasterMind Group and definitely want to read it several times.

  294. Thanks, Ann, for the letter! It reminds me of “Acres of Diamonds”. A man in South Africa sold his land to go and search for riches. The land he sold is the home of the richest diamond mine in the world!
The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence!! Sometimes we just need to dig with knowledge where we are.

  295. Masoom Banerji says:

    Hi Ann !

Thanks for sharing the handwritten letter.Going the ‘ole’ school way was realy sweet ! Something after a long time. The most important lesson that this story teaches us is never to give up in life.

The books on top of my list are:
    1.Think and Grow Rich.
2.How To Win Friends and Influence People.
    3.Who Moved My cheese.

Thank You and God Bless You !

    Masoom

  296. Hi Ann!
I love your handwritten letter! It was fun to go back a couple decades. :)

I have two favorite books, both by Jim Rohn. The Seasons of Life and Leading An Inspired Life. His wisdom always amazes me.

Thanks for sharing your inspiring thoughts!
    Kari Baxter

  297. just want to add one more line to my previous comment.”You will find light at the end of the tunnel, if you really try.You may have to wait but the worse always gets over.”

  298. Hi Ann. Thanks for sharing such a great letter. I am reminded of a story about a man who has cerebral palsy and went door to door selling Watkins Products. The book is called “Ten Things I Learned from Bill Porter”. On the back flap of the book cover we are reminded of the words that Bill teaches “Never doubt that your life is important.” This book is written by Shelly Brady.

  299. Hi Ann,
Thank you for the letter.I sure do
like your style of writing.Ihe first
book I read was Think and Grow Rich.
Two others I liked.” The Greatest
Networker in The World ” by John Melton
Fogg and “The Jack Rabbit Factor” ebook
    by Leslie Householder.

  300. Renita Lowry says:

    oops…gave an incorrect title:
correction:”Six Thinking Hats” by Edward DeBono

    All the best!!!

  301. Gina Baines says:

Yes, it was a wonderful story & in Alcoholics Anonymous, they always say don’t quit before the miracle happens. So I could say there are 2 books, The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck & the Big Book Alcoholics Anonymous. Thank you.

  302. Michael Trehy says:

    Favourite self dev. book
‘Money and the Law Of Attraction’ , Esther Hicks.

  303. Heather says:

I have read quite a few different books and do agree that Think and Grow Rich is incredible. However, my favorite is The Collected Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn. One of the books in it is called ‘The Game of Life and How to Play it’. This is definitely a book I will read over and over.

  304. paul kenney says:

Hi Ann, I bought the book and the audio book of Think and Grow Rich a couple of weeks ago, the funny thing is I was listening to that very story this morning. I am a truck driver and do a round trip of about 900k’s every couple of nights. Can’t wait to get into it in more depth.
    regards Paul.

  305. John Engel says:

I would say my favorite is Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Thanks so much for the letter!

  306. I have read that story before but it is still a good point-maker.You are right. My blog and web site have had very little traffic and no-one has signed up at my blog for that matter.BUT,i rarely give up trying my best even if it means my best has to be better.Since I tend to use one liners ,to the chagrin of my wife, some of my content has been revised by me before publishing and I have added entertainment as part of teaching or finding resources on the internet geared toward marketing. That is why it takes me so long to publish each page.Stubborness verus tenacity, like the battery bunny in the commercials.

  307. Rubi Thomas says:

    Hi Ann,

Thank you for your letter, it was right on time for me. I seem to be suffering from the paralized overload, and spending to much time reading. I finally put my focus on the Blogging tutorials, and have been stuck there for some time. I seem to be missing something, I have signed up with the affiliates, but I have not generated any leads, is that because I do not have an auto-respondor?
My favorite books is “The Millionaire Mindset” Harv L Ecker and “Rich Dad Poor Dad”. I will take your advice and re-read “The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto” again. Thank you for your letter.
    Rubi18

  308. D'amaris Zuidema says:

    Hi Ann,

Thank you for taking the time to send your timely and uplifting message. It says a lot about you as a person and as a business leader.

Presently I’m enjoying a few wonderful books that address some very important principles of success and their application. I would encourage everyone to learn what the authors, Esther and Jerry Hicks, share in their books: “Ask and It Is Given”, “The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent”, and ” Money, and the Law of Attraction”.

  309. My favorite book is 177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class by Steve Siebold. This book is divided into short chapters that give success ideas of great thinkers.

  310. HI Ann;

Well I can honestly say you’ve done it again.
Let me explain…. I have been involved with bettering myself, and ended up in a professional career within that same industry, working for someone else for the better part of all my life.
Currently I am definitely looking to break that pattern and say to them C-YA.

I had this conversation with my mom the other night that while I am working for the man…I am not working for the man within. 40 hours a week, for 40 years, to get a $40.00 watch…it’s just NOT WORTH IT.

One of my favorite books of all time is Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich. I need to get an audio copy of that. But I have a plethora of them. Lol, your letter just now suddenly hit me between the eyes at how I previously had given up what worked best…realizing it’s is only three feet away…if not closer. Thanks. One of these days when I can afford it, I will get Renegade.

    Thanks
    Robb

  311. I need to read “Think and Grow Rich.” On the other hand, I don’t really want to be “rich” in material goods. I just want to maintain my family and home w/o worry. I think it’s important to consider “how much is enough?” I have been greatly inspired by “Sink Reflections” by Marla Cilley (www.flylady.net). It’s not really about starting a business, it’s about mindset, which is really the heart of the matter.

  312. Ann,

WOW! Actually taking the time to sit down and hand write a letter. You don’t see that much anymore and I appreciate your efforts and the lesson in your story.

To me, it’s all about showing appreciation to your customers and clients and letting them know you think about them and care about them. That’s what I try to promote in my business, the use of personalized greeting cards as a way to show appreciation.

It’s also why my favorite book is, “How To Sell Anything To Anybody” by Joe Girard. Joe used greeting cards to connect with his customers and show appreciation and it made him the top selling car salesman in the country. It’s a great book that anyone trying to build a business would enjoy.

  313. George finch says:

HI Ann Realy enjoyed the hand written letter long time since I recieve one of those and your Renegede syatem is awesome it allows people to succeed on the internet just by doing their own thing they are not restricted by rules and going out and making a fool of thenselves
Thanks for shairing Your the greatest

  314. My ‘take’ on the definition of “Rich” is that we get to define it.

What I got most from Think and Grow Rich was that whatever you can imagine that you want for you, your family, and your contribution in the world, you can have it and you can do it… you can create it.

    And that book described how.

Rich to me has less to do with money & more to do with creating your own circumstance with purpose.

    Great discussion everyone!

Welcome New Renegade Professional Students! Looking forward to hearing your success stories after your hard work and commitment!

    Partners in success,

    Mike

  315. Ha Ha Ha! That was awesome. I remembered the story, but I just couldn’t recall which book I read it in. My all time favorite book at the moment is the Four Hour Workweek because of Ferriss’ humor, non-nonsense approach to time management, and skills for ‘deconstructing’ and ‘streamlining’ anything. The man is truly a genius.

  316. Hi Ann,

This was a great idea and it’s obviously generating a powerful list of top flight “mind food” for those who can manage to unplug from the computer long enough to re-nourish with an actual book! :)

My personal favorite is an oldie, but even almost 30 years later is still one of the most entertaining yet valuable reads I’ve ever had…popular enough to create a market for a sequel, so my choice for all time favorite is actually TWO books.

Both come with my strongest possible recommendation as content you will both enjoy as well as benefit greatly from.

“Rhinocerous Success” (1980)and “Advanced Rhinocerology” (1983) by Scott Alexander are both outstanding books on business mindset and leadership.

  317. Gerd Rehwinkel says:

To find what sort of person you’re dealing with (ie your target market, your customer, your downline and even yourself) may I suggest reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. You may just learn someething.

  318. Ann,
That is a great example of what happens to so many that desire success but quit when walls get in the way. The story before, in Think & Grow Rich, about Edwin Barnes & Thomas Edison shows what they lacked, a burning desire to succeed. That is why I enjoy The DNA of Success by Jack Zufelt. This man gives you a formula for uncovering your burning desire or as he coins it Core Desire. My Core Desire is what keeps me moving forward in all conditions.

  319. Hi Ann,

Thanks for that handwritten letter. I read it at a perfect time while sitting in front of my computer wondering what step to take next. I’ve pulled out my 90day checklist and i’m now getting back on track. My favorite self help book at the moment is “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay.

  320. Captain says:

    Hi Ann,

It’s very refreshing to see the hand written medium used again … especially when it’s conveying such an important message.

On of the books I like the most is “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David J. Schwartz.

Thanks again for your personal touch.

  321. Beth McCullough says:

    Hi Ann,

I like the hand written note and the message is still just as true today. I guess it’s time to re-read that book again.

My favorite book that I have read several times is “The Aladdin Factor” by Jack Canefield and Mark Victor Hansen.

  322. Hi Ann, thanks for the letter, an old but trusted story that reminds us to keep going and not to stop at the first sign of advesity. A few books that if read and applied will make a difference would be Sephen Covey – ‘The 7 Habits of higly efective people’. You can run your life by these principles and the other great one is ‘The Monk who sold hist Ferrari’ by Ribin Sharma. There are so many out there but these two will form the basis onn which you can lead your life, both business and personal. Thanks IAIN

  323. Natalie Adams says:

    Hi Ann,
I really liked the letter you sent. It was very encouraging. One of my favorite books is “Think and Grow Rich”. It helps me see that no matter what, things are possible. No matter what someone said’s about you.

    Thanks Again,
    Natalie

  324. Thank you for the great letter Ann. I really enjoyed reading it as it has given me the jolt I needed to get back on track. It pinpointed how I had been feeling so much overwhelm over the last few months and not having any money and not achieving anything. In fact I was so stressed out that I had a minor heart attack. I am well on the road to recovery now but it has been very tempting to just give up on my dreams and enjoy life without the hassles of not knowing “how” to get my businesses up and running profitably . Thankfully I found Mike and yourself and am looking forward to pacing myself as I go through the information that I got from you both.

My favourite book of all time is “Think and Grow Rich” and I also love T.Harv Eker’s ‘ Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”.

  325. Thank you for taking the time to write that for us Ann! I LOVE that story in Think and Grow Rich!

I have some very influential books for me, and “Think and Grow Rich” was my “gateway book” into the personal development field. Another book dear to my heart is Robert Allen’s, “Multiple Streams of Income”.

This is because in May of 2006, I read Robert’s book and was introduced to the concept of doing network marketing through the internet.

I thank God every day for what you & Mike Klingler are doing with Renegade Professional and while I’ve been “full time” for over 1 year now…
I’ve never been so excited & successful in my career, as I have since I’ve been introduced to Renegade Pro.
More importantly, being able to plug my downline into Renegade Pro has introduced “freedom” and “success” on my team like I never would have imagined.

On behalf of myself and my entire team – WE LOVE WHAT YOU’RE DOING!

  326. Brandi Owens says:

    Hi Ann,
Thanks for the hand written letter, I too miss those days of communication…..my kids think I am nuts when I tell them we had to write letters and mail them to our friends.
Napoleon Hill’s book is definitely one of my favotite “get over your self and just do it” books. It let’s you know that perserverence, hard work, dedication…. what ever you want to call it, is the way forward. Positive attitude and keep moving, keep learning and growing.
    Thanks again for everything!
    Brandi

  327. Thanks, Ann, for demonstrating the gift of receiving something using the handwritten word! It feels like it’s being personalized just for your eyes only, right?

As Harvey MacKay, Swim With the Sharks, put it, “Short handwritten cards yield long results. In sales, never underestimate the importance of the personal gesture, and right at the top of the list of effective personal gestures sits the handwritten card. Always send memorable cards and personal notes when you are reminded of a person.”

Well, now you can do the same thing with greeting cards. Find out about it here > http://www.remembergreetingcards.com/smorgan

  328. Thanks Ann for your words of encouragement. This is the best about RP is that I don’t feel alone in my quest. I feel myself slow from information overload and working to put into action and frustrated by lack of time I’d like to devote to it. Trying to eat the ‘elephant’ just one bite at a time and forge ahead.

I grew up on Brian Tracy, Charles Givens, Napoleon Hill among others, but did little reading of their work. I’m a slow learner. But committed myself to 2009 to being non-fictional reading only. So going back to my favorites I went with Brian Tracy and can understand why. He has remained a favorite with my latest being “Goals”. He gives lots of other ‘Recommended Reading’ and working to stay busy knocking them off my list.

Will look forward to the compiled list from you.

    Thx for your continued inspiration.

    Warmest Regards,

    Teri

  329. Bill Benjamin says:

Ann, I really thought the art of hand writing a letter had actually been lost until now. Good stuff. I think that the book I would recommend is by Wallace D. Wattles “The Science of Getting Rich”. Really Good Book

  330. Hi Ann. I HAVE BEEN a networkerfor last ten years doing the biz conventionally. And every time I was made to stop by circumstances when I felt I was about to hit the goldpot. right now I am sitting in that zone, hibernating, waiting for God’s directions. I don,t know abc of internet marketing. I am not technically very sound as far as computers are concerned. Hope something happens and I am guided to the right direction towards the now proverbial 3 feet distance.

  331. A comment from Think and Grow Rich has always stuck with me. Never do anything just for the money. Do it because you love to do it, and the money will follow.

Another book that is useful for people wanting to build a business was recommended to me by a homeschooler who now goes to Harvard and develops medical equipment for Boston scientific.

It is called Business and Administrative Communication.
It has solid principles about how to communicate to potential customers THEIR NEED for YOUR PRODUCT or SERVICE.

  332. Tania Wilder says:

It really was lovely to see your hand-written letter. When I first read the story you wrote of I remember the impact it had on me at the time. This time it won’t be forgotten! It’s funny, I was just about to start re-reading Think and Grow Rich but I was given the Go-Giver to read. About the “secret to succuss” the 5 princles that will help us achieve our goals. It was a wonderul ‘light’ read that I’ll definately be re-reading – after I’ve finished Think and Grow Rich.

  333. I would recommend
“The Ride of A Lifetime” by Paul Teutle Sr.
It was very inspiring to read his viewpoints.
Thanks for your wonderful inspirational letter as well!

  334. Ann,

That was an amazing story. Every time I hear this story it amazes me. Napoleon Hills “Think and Grow Rich” is one of favorite books for self- development. Along with the Bible.

    Thank you, Ann

    Donna Wells

  335. Kanyesigye says:

    Hi Ann
I first apologizing for not replying, but i was so much moved by your letter, because i was disappointed by my business, but your letter has inspired me not to give up
    thank you

  336. Hi Ann

Thanks for the “old school” inspirational approach, has far more impact than the type written word. Have many books on the shelf and agree that “Think and grow rich” is one of the best. Another of my favourites, for its simplicity and ease of getting the message over is “17 Secrets of the Master Prospectors” by John Kalench. Thanks for your ongoing mails, am currently without ADSL at the moment so everything is in the slow – lane at the moment. Best wishes to you and yours.

  337. What a brilliant idea, Anne. Thank you.
My favorite book is “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie.

  338. My favorite books for inspiration are the Simple Truth books available on the website simpletruths.com. Very uplifting and pertains to all walks of life including personal, financial, and careers. Check this out and you will see. It cannot be explained without experiencing.

  339. Jenifer Lampa says:

    Dear Ann,
Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful success with us. What an inspiration you are. I have 2 business that I am getting off the ground, besides my full time job and being a single mom of a 17 year old and 2 year old. Any advice to help is more than welcome. The title of the book I enjoyed was “Awaken the Giant Within”.

  340. Ann: Thank you for your inspiring letter. Sorry it took me so long to get time to read it, but I was at a writers’ conference when you sent it and I had a lot of catching up to do when I got home. “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” is a great read. I think one of the most inspiring stories I have read recently, though not intended as a self-help book, is “Lord, How Will You Get Me Out of This Mess?” by Kay Golbeck. Against tremendous physical obstacles this woman kept her faith as she held on to her vision and continued working for the Lord until she nearly killed herself. After several years in hospital she was healed and went on to establish the dream God had planted within her spirit. Another book that had a great impact on me is “Honor’s Reward” by John Bevere–again, not a self-help book, but nonetheless inspiring. When we learn to honor others, we reap the benefits of positive things happening in our own lives. And of course the Bible is the greatest book of inspiration I will ever read.

    Diane

  341. Hi Ann, the book Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is my favorite. That story just inspires me. Thanks to you and Mike for helping me in so many ways. You guys are truly appreciated.

  342. Hello Ann,
Thank you for the warm and inspirational news.
My favourite is the book called: The Science of Success. The Secret to Getting What You Want by:
    Wallace D. Wattles
A life-changing book that unlocks the secret to
    attracting health, wealth, and success!
    Best Regards,
    Ziedonis

  343. i think your letter is awesome but besides think and grow rich i love og mandinos the worlds greatest salesman and don’t forget all clement stone books

  344. Ann,

I’ve read many of these books on the list and believe “You are what you READ.” The book that has been a catalyst for a change in my thinking that lead to reading many of these other books, is Retire Young, Retire Rich by Robert Kiyosaki. I learned it’s OK to fail because that is part of the learning curve. I learned to set goals. I learned to see wealth as something to be created and that we all have control over that. He teaches that if we want something, rather than go into debt, we should create a way to earn that money. I think I own all the books in the series as well as the board game.

  345. Geoff Harley says:

    Hi Ann,
One of the most Inspiring and Energizing books I have ever read would have to be “Go for It” by Dr. Irene Kassorla. After reading it I had so much energy, I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t put it down. – I had to finish it in one go!
    Cheers,
    Geoff.

  346. Ann,
Think and Grow Rich is a top book for me. The one I have with me constantly is Deepak Chopra’s ‘The Seven Spritual Laws of Success’. I like Deepak’s definition of success – “the contiued expansion of happiness and the progressive realisation of worthy goals”. And for marketing sense anything by Seth Godin is fabulous.
And I am going to use the experts and keep following my dream.
    Thank you.

  347. The 10 Commandments of Success from Og Mandino’s book, “The Greatest Success in the World,” are a must read. These commandments are the basis of many of the successful business principles you see today.

Also, by reading The God Memorandum as instructed in Og Mandino’s “The Greatest Miracle in the World,” you’ll erase all feelings of inadequacy and boost your confidence level through the roof.

Both books run about $7 a pop. There’s no excuse not to get ’em.

  348. Several books I have read, David bach books, “smart couples finish rich”, Secrets of a millionars mind, think and grow rich of course, actualy all led me to what i believe is the hub of the whole “SECRET” to all this, which is The Law of Attraction, by Jerry and Esther Hicks, the teachings of Abraham. Each and every book mentioned above in a way without saying, are all refering to the use of the “LOA”.

  349. Ann,
I read your “hand-written” letter. It reminded me of how I used to communicate with all my “down-line” 20 years ago. I knew the retention rate would be small if I didn’t continue to let them know that they were still important and thought of regularly. I created and sent out a handwritten “newsletter” every month to them. Your story reminded of the days of sitting down with Jim Rohn or Larry Thompson and listening to them tell stories. It is nice to know that you bring some of that to the table!

  350. Whow! Scanned this increadible selection of books and authors. Did not see the timeless classic comparable to T&GR and that is
The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. What’s Next???
    Bill

  351. Wow…what a list! (Bill I’ve read that book, too…The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles–and see Linda Deml-Drahota’s favourites).

Adrian read You Can Heal Your Life – Louise L Hay, which is fairly obscure, that’s in my library, too :)

The World’s Most Powerful Money Manual & Course by Ken Roberts. Wish I could say that I read it the required 7 times!

An Uncommon Way to Wealth by “Victor D’Argent”. Because it’s powerful with word-pictures.

Actually, I’m surprised at how much is in the bible about fair business practices, growth, and being so rich that you really had no idea of how wealthy, what to do with surplus, giving away, storing up, giving up stuff, acquiring to overflowing, help, hindrance, not giving up, ownership…and it’s all about relationships.

  352. In the last almost 19 years I’ve read so many inspirational, and self help books that if I practiced everything I’ve ever read, I should be a billionaire! One author that I haven’t seen on this list is Emmett Fox. He helped discover the principles behind Alcoholics Anonymous, and they were of course based on the Bible. However if most alcoholics were to realize that this was in any way connected to the promises written in the Bible they probably wouldn’t attend many meetings. This author is out of print, but sometimes you can find used books on Half.com or Ebay. I’ve read each of his books at least 3 times, and then I graduated to Napoleon Hill because he was mentioned in Mr. Fox’s books.
Ann, I also wish to thank you for your letter, which I thought was very well done. I have my website up and running, but now I need to fine tune it. I’m promoting inspirational, and self improvement books on my site, and some of the are free e-books by some of the leading authors we’ve just been reading about. Check these out at: http://www.AHandUp4U.com. I’ve also just compiled a list of all of the books and authors that I found listed in these replies, and I’ll e-mail it to anyone who would like a copy. My e-mail address is: lmichelwhite@gmail.com.
Now that I’ve finally made up my mind, I’m going to join Renegade Professional so that I can at last put my education to work for myself. I guess that sounds selfish, but believe me when I say that I’ve paid my way in internet marketing.
I’m 69 years old, and it’s now or never!

  353. Robert Crouse says:

    Ann,
Beautifully done, well, if that letter of faith in yourself isn’t a push to pick up a book worth reading for yourself and your fullfilment in YOU yourself then nothing is.
I believe in me! I will not quit no matter what. You have to have that faaith. It’s doable.
Read so many of the book previously mentioned, old standbys that are just as true today as when they were written. Lately I have been charmed by our current circle of doers including one Ann Selig, Susan Sly, Craig Garcia, Myron Golden, Gary Eby to name a few who have put their name on something worthwhile for us to read, to build on, believe in, and to help us reach for our dreams.
    Again thank you.

    Bob Crouse

  354. John C. Rollow says:

A little late. (I’m looking for the Book Club referene.) But I have to add my echo of Christine for the Holy Bible, and especially Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, v. 13.

  355. Hi John,

I should have that blog up by tomorrow and will definitely post that in the Breakthrough blog. It was awesome to see you in last night’s Twitter “Power Hour.”

    I’ll keep you posted!

    Ann

  356. Tom Renfro says:

    Hello Ann,
My latest recommendation is a book that, I believe, you are likely to be familiar with. I will however put it out there because it is a MUST read for anyone in network marketing or any type of sales.
It’s by Michael Oliver, entitled “How to sell network marketing without fear, anxiety or losing your friends!”. Sub- titled “Selling from the soul. Ancient wisdoms. Modern practice.”
I found his approach refreshing and very reminiscent of the recorded conversation you had with John at the end of the Renegade Network Marketer E- book, audio version.
Michael’s book is both inspirational and practical. It fits into the Renegade philosophy of attraction marketing because the book focuses on creating real relationships with your “potential partners.”
It is best summed up in a quote by Michael, “Find your own truth, by shedding the truths of others that prevent you from having the freedom and abundance that is your universal right.”
    Truly a Renegade!
    Tom

  357. Sorry if this has been mentioned in a previous comment, but have you tried this with a mail merge? It would be awesome to personalize each letter somehow.

  358. Bev Ferraro says:

That was awesome Ann I also miss the old ways of communicating That was cool just like the letter was for me. Thanks Bev

  359. Ann — I just stumbled across this letter while looking around the blog. Thank you! It really addresses what so many people feel, what I am feeling right now. I have been in Renegade Team and Inner Circle about 2 months now and it has given me hope that I can eventually get where I want to be! Thanks to you and all your team!

    • Awesome to have you as a member of the Inner Circle and Renegade Team, Carol!

Thanks for stopping by the Renegade Blog and glad you liked the letter. :)
