Use These 3 Questions To Write A Better Close

Eric Walker Gather RoundYesterday during our monthly Inner Circle training call via our The Daily Marketing Coach (DMC) program, I received a great question. I couldn’t answer immediately, but upon sleeping on it, I’m going to answer it now.

I was training on how to develop a marketing idea. How to turn that idea into a marketing campaign. I offered this format for fleshing out that idea:

  • Attention Grabber
  • Identify The Interest
  • Light Up The Problem
  • Validate The Problem With 3rd Party Evidence
  • Solve The Problem
  • Be Specific About Solving The Problem

That’s when someone asked, “How do we close a blog post?”

Not just a blog post. It could be “How to close a video?” or “How to close?” (period).

There are so many nuances and contextual considerations that come with a question like this. But in general, here’s the easiest way to approach a close (in your blog posts, or your videos, or your emails, etc).

Remember, selling is simply communication. Communication is content. Content is education. You want to be sure you’re getting your message across clearly.

You need to be certain your close includes these three things, as these are the minimum items required to make a sale, or get an optin, or whatever call to action you desire.

Here goes:

  1. Tell them what you’ve got.
  2. Tell them what it will do for them.
  3. Tell them this is what they should do next.

Here’s an example, and the way I’ll close out this blog post…
