There is a great danger in setting goals.

In our exuberance coming into a new year full of hope, faith, and optimism we set high goals – which is good.

What happens though when we don’t reach them?

In this brief audio, I will reveal a safety net that makes goal setting safer and more productive in the long run. Listen below.

  1. Molimau Tupai says:

Setting goals to me is a guide for me to follow. I therefore set my goals a bite size. I set it with a reward when a goal is achieve I go and do what I have attached to that goal as a reward. And also I set it as a game. A game of something I like to do and enjoy doing it. I alw set it small and work up to the big one. And this is why I always achieve my goals

  2. Curt, what a great idea! I never thought of the “benchmark” strategy. Thank you. I’ll implement it for my own goals and suggest it to my clients.

Such a wise person you are!

    Jory

  3. Sharon Rodebaugh says:

Thank You I have been working on my goals, and got a book call Get IN The Game i love it and going to be working with Ann Sieg soon. God Bless

  4. Love me my Coach Curt comments. Always great nuggets and take aways! The bench mark is a great idea to prevent feeling like a failure! Thanks Curt:)

  5. Hey Coach, Good words there. I do that but never called it benchmark – that’s a good word.

  6. Chuck Ferguson says:

I have heard this benchmark technique somewhere before, but I would not have remembered it without you bringing it up. Thanks for the reminder Coach!

  7. This week I set my goals high and met 30% of them.

This audio is a great encouragement to set my mind to looking at next week differently.

The benchmark will keep me moving forward with action without those big DIPS of disappointment when the high points aren’t achieved.

    Thank you Curt.

  8. The downside of goal setting is not to meet the goal, whether its set high or not. We’re almost to end of January, and am afraid I might not meet my goal.. However, I also set a benchmark along side my goal in case I don’t meet my January Goal. That is what to change and how to reach my goal..

    Thanks Kurt.
