How To Avoid Shiny Object Syndrome

I had a great conversation the other day with one of my students about shiny object syndrome. I know this to be the number one plague of well-meaning entrepreneurial minded folks who are seeking to make a change in their life. Today, I’m tackling this subject head-on, and starting out with a conversation I had just the other day about this. I talk more in-depth about this in my video, but our conversation started out something like this:

He said,

“I like the shiny object, Ann. I fear this sense of loss. Like I’ll be missing out on something.”

I explained that he was right about that. That he WILL be missing out on something.

The bane of being an entrepreneur is the love of learning, and being progressive, but that also means that you can have too many ideas. Or too many projects to tackle, or too many training courses you think you should go through. It’s a blessing and a curse.

Does this sound familiar? Am I describing your feelings and/or behaviors?

Well if so… if this applies to you, or you’ve ever been affected by shiny object syndrome, watch the video below. In just 13 minutes, I pare this “issue” down and discuss how to balance it all, and keep it in perspective with making real, significant, income-earning progress with your online business.

We’ll first tackle the “shiny object syndrome” and then talk about how when you tackle THAT, your task management abilities sky rocket.

Watch the video now.

  1. Hale Pringle says:

I had to smile watching this. As Ann knows, I had a terminal case of Shiny Object Syndrome prior to settling on the Daily Marketing Coach (DMC) program. I created a graphic the other day to illustrate my results prior to DMC. the image was a car with wings and tank treads. That is what I felt like I created when I sat down to build my online presence. I had pieces and parts to many different systems,. I didn’t have ALL the parts to any one system. Now I do. The step-by-step training took me through building a complete sales funnel and I’m on my way! Oh Hale Yes!

  2. I join DMC+ just over 2 weeks ago and have gone from Web illiterate poster on Facebook to published expert with my own Domain with a Blog started in my Niche because of the Train and support offered by Ann. Thanks to Ann Sieg, Marsha Goodwin and Coach Curt amazing teaching system.
