Happy Father’s Day (2011)

Over the last few decades it’s seems like less and less importance has been placed on the role of fatherhood in society.

I think the effects of this are being felt. As the saying goes, “So goes the family so goes the culture.”

What we need to do is elevate and respect the enormous influence a father has on his children in shaping their moral character. This is first and foremost. No other teachings come close to this primary calling of fatherhood.

It’s the tender care and tutelage of the father in teaching his children that helps lead communities of people on to greatness. When this is neglected there is a price to pay.

I was very blessed to have a mother and father who modeled for me a true team of servant leadership as they raised me and my siblings.

This video is a tribute to my dad who I am blessed to still have with me along with all the other fathers.

To all Fathers, this is your day. We celebrate you!

Happy Father’s Day,

      Hi Holli,

Thank you much! That gorgeous scenery is up here in beautiful St. Paul, MN. It’s a quiet little park Brian and I used to have picnics at. There was couple doing just that while we were doing the shoot. Kind of a lover’s park it seems.

      Seeing my dad this afternoon!

      Lots of love,

      Ann

  2. Very nice Ann. Thank you for taking the time to share this. I hope you have a great day with your Dad!

Enjoyed your video Ann! Beautiful park and wonderful thoughts of your Dad. He sounds like my kind of Dad. Last year I was with my Dad in Wisconsin, it was a beautiful sunshiny day and we enjoyed every minute of it together. I use to make 2 pies for him from the time I learned how to bake as a kid…coconut cream and banana cream pies for Fathers Day. Last year was the last year I could do that for him, we lost him on July 9th. I can still see him smiling at me, enjoying every bite. I think I’m going to go somewhere today by myself and order a piece of banana cream pie and think about and talk to my Dad :)

    • Hey Deanna,

We’re both pie girls it seems. :)

Hope you enjoyed a piece of banana cream pie today along with time to reflect on your dad. So sorry to hear you lost your dad last year. I can’t even imagine.

Super enjoyed getting together with you. I haven’t had that much fun in a long time. We’ll be connecting again soon!

      Lots of love,

      Ann

  4. Thank you so much for this video Ann. I couldn’t agree with you more. Not enough importance is put on fathers these days. Too many kids are growing up lost and without direction because they don’t have a strong father figure in their life.

Have a happy Father’s Day everyone.

    Barry

    • Hi Barry,

Totally agreed. Dads need to be appreciated and respected for the enormous role they play in shaping their children’s character.

Hope you had an awesome Father’s Day!

      Thanks for stopping by.

      Ann

  5. Ann,
I lost my father to cancer 2 years ago and I miss him dearly. I celebrate his life everyday and thank him for making me the woman that I am today. Enjoy this very special day with you Dad.

    • Hi Adriana,

So sorry to hear of your loss. Glad you continue to celebrate his life and are grateful for the impact he had on your life.

      Much blessings,

      Ann

  6. Ann,
Thanks for sharing your special video with us. Father’s do play a very important part of our lives. Sometimes we don’t realize it until later in our life. I am glad your father is a big part of your life.

Thank you for what you do. God bless you.

Thanks Ann For Sending The Video My Day Been Pretty Good And You Have A Good Day Too…..

  8. Father’s Day morning after my quiet time, I was ushered in to the “dining room” and asked to sit at the table. It wasn’t long till I heard the parade/procession coming. My 3 year old son led the way blowing on a train whistle, then my 7 year old daughter who was holding a large cardboard sign which said “Happy Father’s Day,” Then my 5 year old son who was carrying a little gift. They circled the table twice all the while chanting “Happy Father’s Day,” and blowing on that whistle.

I was treated to an amazing breakfast, that my wife so carefully prepared.

I made this comment, and I totally meant it, “I am Rich!”

True riches have so little to do with money, and so much to do with moments like these, that when put together in the whole of life, make a life’s experience that Cannot be bought with gold or silver.

I really appreciate this tribute to Fathers, Ann, it is of paramount importance in this day and age.

    God bless you,
    Martin

    • Indeed you are richly blessed, Martin. You’re creating an amazing legacy for your children as a result of the decisions and commitments you’ve made in your life.

I can just see your parade of children circling you and blowing the whistle in devotion and love to YOU — their father.

You’re also very blessed with a loving and faithful wife.

A good name is to be honored above many riches. And you Martin have a very good name.

      Thanks for sharing!

      Much love and affection,

      Ann

  9. Hi Ann,

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute to your father. That was a great way to honor him and to inspire other fathers to leave great legacies for their families.

    Blessings for more favor!

    Joseph
