The Social Media Feedback Loop

I would like for you to look carefully at the following screen shots I took from my Facebook Business page. Then read closely my thoughts that follow. THIS is exactly why I work so hard to build up a social media presence and why YOU should too.

and now take a look at this one too…

One of the most vital aspects of social media from a marketer’s perspective is on building and maintaining a feedback loop. It is through this feedback loop (and your measurement of it) that you can learn where and how to influence the social conversations that are important to you.

Now take a look at the second screenshot again. That’s social feedback which influenced a sale. Notice how Margit was on the fence about purchasing The Renegade Network Marketer. She’d read The Attraction Marketers Manifesto, liked it, and was in the “consideration phase” regarding The Renegade ($67).

But what really prompted the sale?

One of her Facebook friends “liked” something that served as social feedback (and therefore, in this case, social proof) in favor of my Renegade ebook. An hour later, she made the purchase and went to bed (peacefully I hope ;-)).

This is called a social feedback cycle or loop.

Simply put… the feed back from post-purchase experiences of my current customers influenced the next round of potential customers right at the moment of a purchase consideration. This favorably influenced a purchase decision.

The cool thing is that I had nothing to do with this sale being made (except facilitate the conversation on my page). We call this “user-generated” content.

This form of marketing is an open model. It requires nothing except a great product and a willingness to facilitate strategic communications. And be 100% committed to customer service.

The outcome? Experiential data generated by current customers that benefits of the next wave of shoppers. This feedback loop organically creates a “purchase funnel.” THIS why social media is worth your time, and how it creates sales.

Ann, I was at an impass when I ran across your site on FB. I felt everything you said about going through your list and “showing the plan.” What I like is that you make emotional and logical sense to me. I have read the Manifesto, and am on page 34 of the Renegade. I want to absorb, implement and routinely practice all that you have to offer. Thanks a “million!”

  3. Ann, I am in awe of your blog as well as many other things :-) Your blog is so clean and uncluttered yet so juicy and full of quality content. I’m just noticing how you took the ball and ran with it in record time to produce this high quality blog post. I see it as both an art and a science. (How you are leveraging social media to impact your business.) Wow! This social media thing opens up a whole new world of possibilities. It’s fascinating but at the same time seems to require an incredible amount of finesse and emotional intelligence to make it work. Thanks for leading the way!

  4. Ann, thank you so much for providing clarity and encouragement to all of us who are persisting in finding the right way to run our businesses. For those who were raised up in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s in the corporate world, this is a HUGE transition.
