Sometimes it’s helpful to look at other great marketers and copywriters, and analyze what they do. I dug up this post today because I think it provides a quick lesson about the workings of an effective blog post.
So before we really get started, follow this link and give it a quick read: http://thecopybot.com/2011/05/write-links/ by Demian Farnworth
What I Noticed: Headline
The headline. All good/great headlines do one or more of these four things:
1-Unique
2-Useful
3-Ultra-specific
4-Urgent
This headline captures 1,2 and 3 (from the list above).
What I Noticed: List Post
It’s a list post. List posts are scannable, readable, and will deliver a big ol’ batch of traffic (both short term and long term).
3 Things You Can Do With This Article:
1-read it. It’s useful about how and how not to hyperlink. I learned something.
2-be aware of your headline and that they have one or more of the “U” characteristics.
3-write a big ol’ list post
Thanks Ann as always you feed us with only great material. This look easy but I know is a kind of art that I really want to master.

Thanks for this post Eric.
I believe giving a little thought before linking goes a long way.
With regards to the headlines, I must say the book you recommended “Headline Hacks” is helping me a lot.
