5 Simple Blog Traffic Tweaks You Can Make Right Now To Increase Traffic

These 5 simple blog tweaks will make a positive difference in the amount of blog traffic you receive both immediately and over time.

The main point of these tweaks is so that people know what you offer and how they can get it from you, as well as share it with others. If your blog is inconsistent and incongruent, visitors will be confused.

Tiny Changes Make Big Differences

Keeping reading to implement these tweaks, and avoid confusing people when they visit your blog.

1. First, take a look at your header.

Your header shows people your brand. What is your specialty? Are you blogging about social media advice? Are you catering specifically to the needs of small business owners or other internet marketers? Or maybe you’re an advertising genius. Make sure your header is clear about what you offer.

Or if not a header, create a video that is fixed on your home page. Whenever people land on your home page, they’ll see this watch this video to know exactly what the blog is about.

Even your navigation bar can offer more information to visitors about what they can find on your site. The titles to each page will give a hint as to your specialties and the overall theme of your blog.

We do make somewhat of an exception here at The Renegade Blog because the term “Renegade” is already known to over 250,000 people. Ann has a mailing list of hundreds of thousands. She already has an audience. Nonetheless, even we could make some tweaks to this for the growing numbers of “new people” we continually attract to this blog.

2. When people visit your blog and they love one of your entries, can they share it on Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus?

By simply adding a plugin that lets people share your content on their social networks, you’ve already given visitors access to some word of mouth advertising for your content.

If you’re finding yourself technically challenged to do this, make it a point of emphasis to hire someone to do it for you. It shouldn’t cost you much. Or perhaps considering some type of bartering – service for service.

Don’t let technical challenges STOP you. They might slow you down sometimes, but NEVER let them stop you.

3. The very title of your blog can be search engine optimized if you include “keywords” for which you want to rank on the search engines.

We’ve experienced this first hand since building out this blog. We did not rank for many “Ann Sieg” and “Renegade” keyword phrases until we founded this blog.

You can use “keywords” in the titles of your posts and the very content of those posts. If you’re on WordPress, you will definitely find plugins you can install that will help you manage some Search Engine Optimization without having to be an expert.

You don’t need to be an expert to be effective with keywords.

4. Schedule yourself! Keep a daily agenda in which you include at least an hour a day for updating your blog.

The more updated and consistent your content, the more relevant your blog. Try to create a calendar in which you schedule in these daily (or weekly) updates.

We’ve created several posts here at The Renegade Blog that focus on helping you with content creation. Here are two posts you shouldn’t miss:

5. Finally, make it clear on your blog where people can sign up to receive e-mail updates about your new blog entries.

Some options are RSS feeds or opt-in boxes. Not only are they signing up to read your content, but you’re already getting some FREE lead generation.

More advanced marketers will have an opt-in offer. You can learn more about that here:

  1. Hey Eric,

Once again a big kudos on a nice clean instructional piece of “easy to implement” blogging how to information.

    People are loving it!

  2. Eric, I agree with Ann – These are great tips especaily for me (a blogging newbie.) I am continually amazed by the consistent level of high quality content I am finding on this blog! It’s something to aspire to for sure. I am wondering if you can suggest the optimal wordpress plug in to produce those nice little FB and Twitter Share buttons that I see beneath the post. Also the Twitter Follow button is quite handy and attractive! I just love this blog and you guys rock! (BTW) :-)

  3. Eric, it’s all very exciting to me right now . . . . This blog is like a gold mine of valuable info . . . . . I believe I have heard the expression somewhere that “Content Is King” and I think I am starting to “get’ it. Yeah, I see what you are saying . . . . people need to be ignited (empowered to take action) and then they need quite a bit of support and direction in order to stay on course. I find myself drifting off course way too easily and these blog posts are like a lifeline! :-)

  4. Thanks!..For all the Information really great help. We can use all this in every post we read.

  5. Thanks again Ann! I felt I was missing something on my blog and then it hit me SEO! I got caught up in Social Media, I forgot a task on my to do list! Thanks for reminding me!
