Ann Sieg’s “21 Suggestions For Success” (Video #3)

“Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.”

We always mention this qualifier in the sales copy for our Renegade Action Workshops:

“We reserve the right to add value at any time.”

We say this because, inevitably, we always – without exception – add more value. It’s in our nature to do so.

Go ahead and listen to my video and perspective on the second part of this sentence as well. Then please comment below your thoughts on Success Suggestion #3.

With this “21 Suggestions For Success” video series, I hope to impart some of the things I’ve learned both from the personal side of business as well as the professional side.

  1. Thanks for this tip Ann,

Balance is definitely needed between giving and taking, but establishing a perpetual habit of giving – especially giving for the sake of giving and making a positive difference in someone’s life, already gives a return in some way. Instead of physical currency as in money, it’s happiness, meaning, and purpose which I argue is more valuable than money because that’s all we want at the end of the day – to be happy. Money’s just the result of giving value and giving more value than they expect affirms again again the abundance that life has to offer.

Looks like tip #2 and this one go hand in hand!

    Thanks!

    • I can see by how you interact within our Daily Marketing Coach community that you’ve definitely got the happy abundant mindset. I know it plays into your ability to get results because of your positive outlook. Thanks for sharing, Gabriel!

  2. Give people more than they expect … Wow! We are celebrating our 42nd wedding anniversary today (4 kids-6 grand-kids) and as a Rotarian we are going to an inter-service luncheon where we performed last year, yes we have been truly blessed and as musicians (www.martinbells.com) we continue to do what we love. Ann this is truly a beautiful holistic series and because our human destiny is service above self through joy and love your words certainly ring true! We started the World Wide Peace Bell Foundation 5 years ago to ring-in this message of “Oneness” , that ‘We” are all connected which is why we planted a Peace Pole and added other service organizations to it in the Newburgh, NY area. Visit FB Peace Bell Foundation, spread the word! This is also why I joined DMC because I know that the only way for Peace to overcome War is that it needs to make a profit. I hope you don’t mind me chiming in with some ideas of a Better World For All (as you are doing) and I look forward to my coaching with you and your 21 day nuggets of wisdom! Simply awesome, down to earth and inspiring…Thanksgiving Blessings, Namaste!

    • I love it! Thanks for sharing, Doug. Imagine if everyone participated in an activity like yours. We could indeed turn this world around for the better. Thanks for your contributions. You’re changing lives, Doug. I’m sure of it.

  3. A good friend of mine, Kevin McCarthy, a fellow “purpose coach,” says this about money and purpose:

“Purpose and money are, however, related because if our heart or purpose remains ill-defined, money and purpose are competitors vying for the same space. Purpose politely awaits for our invitation to enter; whereas money will break and enter. Living life divided tears us apart with busyness and distraction as we jump from one pursuit to another in constant, yet ineffective attempts to calm our guilt as we deny and violate our true selves yet again.

Who wins the battle of the material and the spiritual? The answer is simple: the one we give provision and comfort to within our being. Settling the matter is deciding once and for all which treasure lives in our heart.”

Ann, I so admire your ability to balance giving and receiving — with giving coming FIRST.

Thank you for being a model of true integrity! A mark of servant leadership for sure.

    Jory

    • I love the definition your good friend shared with you. It’s very well put. Purpose is patient and virtuous. Money disrupts. What a difference. It is vitally important that all entrepreneurs settle this in their hearts so they can truly love and enjoy the business they’ve created.

I’m glad you are here in our community as a “purpose” focused coach to help people navigate through this all important aspect of their lives.

  4. Everyone I have met and had the pleasure to work with within the DMC community definitely goes the extra mile and with such enthusiasm…it’s contagious! I feel grateful to be here!

  5. Each one of us has a different definition of success. My mentors taught me about success and happiness and never mentioned money at all. It gives me a feeling of exuberance when something as simple as doing a good deed can bring a positive response in someone. It really doesn’t take much to do a little extra. In the DMC community, I find this to be true. After getting to know more fellow DMC’ers from RAW4 the idea of going further to help someone starts to become more natural. It’s a habit I’ve been trying to cultivate with those I connected with, and with those I have yet to connect with. I have to say, this community has been my catalyst. It invites the right type of behaviours that are needed to succeed. I have never been in such a community that seems to naturally come out and help. Your guarantee to me just before RAW4 still holds true… I came back an entirely different seeing person.

    • Love your statement, Myron. “It invites the right type of behaviors to succeed.” Very well put.

It is true. The DMC community seems to naturally provide giving, helping and caring in abundance. I’m really proud of the leadership within the community. This creates a safe healthy environment for our members to learn and grow. So pleased to have you here, Myron.

  6. Great Insight Ann
I was just listening to a audio that was speaking about two attitudes.

    1. Value driven Attitude

It says “what can i do to help you”… Also it dispels, I will work harder and I expect you will pay me more.
I believe when we practice doing more than is required, we established an attitude that keeps giving and the Creator of the Universe will always return back according to our desire.

    2. Entitled based attitude-

It says ” what have you done for me lately” this attitude says pay me more and maybe I will work harder.

Emerson said “Do the thing and you will have the Power”
It is the understanding behind the attitudes that are behind the actions.

  7. Give people more than the excepted, because”You can
have everything in life you want, if you will just help other
    people get what they want.
    Zig Ziglar

  8. Giving paves the way to receiving. It’s a Scriptural principle. Not that receiving is the motivation for giving however the pathways are opened.

In “The Go Giver” Bob Burg writes a compelling story about giving.

The act of giving generates such positive consequences any way you look at it.
